History
Lu Cheng began as a fisherman in the Great Yun Dynasty, using exceptional fishing ability to earn money for martial-arts tuition. He possessed the mysterious [Heavenly Mandate], which enabled unusually rapid mastery of skills. The Fish Gang's oppression of local fishermen—and its role in the deaths connected to Lu Cheng's family and former body—drove him into open conflict with the gang. He killed You Lanchuang's subordinate in an underwater spear fight, later eliminated Liu Daozi, and seized the Fish Gang's hidden money box to fund his departure. 1 3 5 16
In Yangcheng County, Lu Cheng entered the Long Wind Escort Agency despite a test revealing that he could retain only a single wisp of essence. Though initially believed to suffer from a primordial blood-essence leak, he advanced from Stance Training to perfected Strength Refining at an extraordinary rate. He supplemented his training by refining and consuming Blood-Activating Powder, fought off repeated attempts on his life, and became a central combatant in the Escort Agency's disputes with the Fish Gang, Lin Martial Arts Hall, and other local forces. 10 26 42 65
After the martial-arts competition, Lu Cheng discovered that an iron fragment might be responsible for his inability to absorb primordial qi. He traveled to East Sun Sect, cultivated the Lesser Longevity Art, broke through to Body Refining, and was ultimately accepted by Han Lingxiao as a peak master's disciple. 71 76 90
Within East Sun Sect, Lu Cheng's rapid advancement drew both patronage and hostility. He received access to Earth-rank martial skills, forged the Wind Thunder Wings, and began building ties with Ge Long and the Martial Suppression Army. After Qin Yan's murder and Ge Long's arrest, Lu Cheng resisted efforts to condemn Ge Long without proof. East Sun Sect factions subsequently pursued Lu Cheng, Ge Long, and You Fuxing; Lu Cheng later uncovered that You Fuxing was involved in a wider scheme targeting the sect. 94 99 107 113 119
Personality
Lu Cheng is determined, pragmatic, and intensely focused on gaining the strength needed to survive. He treats cultivation as a resource-driven struggle, willingly enduring dangerous doses of medicine and grueling training when he believes the potential gain is worth the risk. 28 29 57
He is neither needlessly vindictive nor blindly forgiving. Lu Cheng protected Liu Wan'er after she was injured shielding him, allowed Zhuang Xing to observe his training despite their clashes, and refused to abandon Ge Long when the evidence against him was uncertain. 42 44 107
Lu Cheng is also cautious in political matters. He declined Tu Yuan's offer of kinship, chose to keep a low profile after being targeted by East Sun Sect, and concealed his connection to Shen Yi when doing so could endanger his position. 112 117
