Background / History
Ge Long began practicing martial arts at sixteen. His talent was average: he reached the peak of Strength Refining at twenty, then spent two years waiting for further cultivation methods before turning to Wan Chuan for support. He cultivated the Guarding the One Embracing Primordial Skill, associated with Patriarch Shouyizi's lineage. 82 83
During the mission against the Lingbi Mountain bandits, Ge Long helped plan the operation and tried to reassure Lu Cheng that the assignment was not as dangerous as it seemed. He was injured while fighting a Body Refining Realm bandit alongside Wan Chuan, then assisted in searching for the bandits' hideout. 79 82
After the mission, Ge Long urged Lu Cheng to bypass Wan Chuan and seek support directly from more influential elders. He explained the East Sun Sect's peak-and-lineage politics, while admitting that his own dependence on Wan Chuan came from years without access to subsequent cultivation techniques. 82 83
Ge Long later reported that Wan Chuan had deliberately endangered Lu Cheng by using drug-coated Silver Scale Soft Armor as bait to expose the bandits' hideout. Because Wan Chuan bore the surname of Falling Star Peak's master, Ge Long became the scapegoat and was imprisoned on Heart Inquiry Peak under the accusation of colluding with enemies and harming fellow disciples. 85 86
Lu Cheng secured Ge Long's release through a writ authorized by Han Lingxiao. The confinement left Ge Long deeply resentful of the sect's abuses of status and power, but also more resolved to shape his own future. 101
Appearance
Ge Long has a notably burly build, recognizable even when he is badly wounded. 104 107
- During his imprisonment, he became unshaven and visibly defeated, with a lifeless expression. 85
- After his release, his formerly calm and resolute eyes had become quiet, gloomy, and difficult to read. 101
- He was later found covered in blood, with his limbs hanging limp after being accused of killing Qin Yan. 107
Personality
Ge Long is politically perceptive and practical. He understands the East Sun Sect's internal factions, recognizes Wan Chuan's limited influence despite his family backing, and identifies opportunities for Lu Cheng to seek better patronage. 82 83
His earlier dependence on Wan Chuan came from necessity rather than loyalty. After being made a scapegoat, he became bitter toward Wan Chuan and the powerful disciples who had treated him as disposable. 83 86 101
Despite his anger, Ge Long remains loyal to the East Sun Sect itself. When approached with an offer that would place him under a Qi Refining master's protection and let him retaliate against arrogant sect disciples, he refused to betray the sect. 119 120
