"How many times have I told you? You don't need to call out here. There's no one home, so who are you shouting for?" Shiro, who had followed Naruto into the room, rolled his eyes.
"Uncle Shiro, you tricked me again!" Naruto looked at Shiro with open disdain. "Last time, I got used to doing that here, and then I forgot when I went home. Mom gave me a beating for it! I'm not falling for your nonsense!"
"Oh, you're getting smarter," Shiro said with a laugh as he changed his shoes.
"Hmph!" Faced with Shiro's teasing, Naruto turned his little head away and went to wash up. He had some questions he needed to ask Shiro later.
A while later, Naruto, finished washing up, pushed open the study door while toweling his damp hair. "All right, Uncle Shiro. Tell me. They said I'm a demon fox, a monster. What's going on?"
Hearing that, Shiro set down the Magecraft Scroll in his hand and looked at the calm Naruto. He smiled faintly. No anger, no sadness, no resentment—only a rational inquiry into the reason. That quality was excellent. Shiro's education of Naruto over the past three years had not gone to waste.
"First, I'm very glad you can be this calm. It proves you listened carefully to everything I taught you. For you, that's the most precious treasure of all. I hope you can keep it up."
Shiro propped both hands on the desk and looked at Naruto with satisfaction.
"I understand what you're saying. So, what's the reason? My senses tell me they're telling the truth. You know, this is my special ability. So I want to know why."
Naruto walked up to Shiro and quietly looked at him.
Perhaps due to the fluctuation of the
