Background

Li Yun was originally a middle-aged, laid-off bachelor before being transported into a martial-arts world roughly two and a half months before the beginning of the story. After merging with the original Li Yun’s memories, he inherited a hunter’s life in Mountain-Back Village and resolved to pursue the martial path. 1

His transmigration came with a proficiency panel that rewards practice, has no bottlenecks, and permanently preserves any attainment. He also received a ten-thousand-cubic-meter storage space. 1

As a village hunter, Li Yun was targeted by the Qian Brothers, local bullies protected through their connection to Mountain Gang squad leader He Xiuyong. He avoided direct attention when possible, then traveled to Crow Mountain City to join the Subduing Tiger Martial Hall. 2 4

Appearance

Li Yun initially appears to be a handsome youth of about seventeen or eighteen, with an agile and vigorous bearing. Later descriptions emphasize his tall, sturdy frame and sharp, angular features. 1 77

  • Usually wears practical martial attire suited for training and combat.
  • Can alter his stature, facial structure, and overall build with the Bone Shifting Technique. 51 71
  • Has adopted disguises ranging from a rough gambler to a frail carriage driver in order to conceal his identity or ambush enemies. 51 158

Personality

Li Yun is intensely diligent and treats cultivation as his foremost priority. He spends money, time, and physical endurance on improving his martial arts, even declining sponsorship arrangements that would bind years of his future service. 6 10

Although ambitious, he is highly cautious. He avoids unnecessary attention, distrusts suspicious opportunities, and prefers stable gains over reckless risks. This pragmatism extends to combat: he uses terrain, disguises, poison, archery, ambushes, and false openings whenever they provide an advantage. 14 22 61 158

Li Yun can be ruthless toward enemies, especially in life-or-death situations, but he is not indifferent to others. He intervenes to save Wang Xiaofei and his sister, returns to rescue Yu Qingqing, Huang Shengnan, and Lin Biling from the Blood Blade Sect, and swears a Dao oath to protect Mu Yun. 23 25 77 135
