Background / History

Kakarot arrives on Earth in a Saiyan space pod. Karochi recognizes the infant as his fellow Saiyan and warns Kami that he will become Earth's future protector if his development is not disrupted. Karochi also asks Kami to remove Goku's tail before a full moon can trigger an uncontrollable Great Ape transformation. 10

Goku is raised by Son Gohan, who teaches him martial arts, the Kamehameha, and the Afterimage Technique. After living at Son Gohan's mountain home for more than a decade, Goku leaves with the Four-Star Dragon Ball to seek Master Roshi and become stronger. 129 131

During his first Dragon Ball journey, Goku meets Bulma and chooses to accompany her because he believes she needs his protection. His overwhelming strength allows him to defeat threats such as the pterosaur that abducts Bulma, Yamcha, Emperor Pilaf, and the Rabbit Gang with little difficulty. 131 134 135
