Clint Barton drove down Ulf Lane and parked in an open area near a chemical plant called Bio-Gene Corporation. From the higher ground, he observed the abandoned warehouse not far away, trying to determine the target's location in advance. He asked whether his friend in the back seat needed help, but Natasha Romanoff shook her head. "He's still our friend, at least for now." She carefully checked the stun device on her wrist in the back seat, then pushed open the door and got out. "I need to find out what he's really thinking. He definitely wants more than just splitting up the Avengers. He never does anything simple. Every one of his plans will have consequences years later."
"Sounds like a comic book villain. I actually kind of like him. We haven't talked much, but I always felt he was easy to get along with." Clint Barton shook his head and said half-jokingly, "Call me if you need help. I'll take up a sniper position. Even if I can't hurt him, I can buy you time to run."
"You're no match for him." Natasha Romanoff rolled her eyes with an amused smile. Clint Barton's intelligence was outdated; he had no idea what kind of person Salomon was now. Natasha Romanoff had not told him that the Emperor of Latveria on television was Salomon. No one dared reveal his true identity. Everyone who knew him understood that this was his red line. Besides, even the identity of Salomon might not have been real. All documents connected to his true identity had long since been destroyed. "Don't forget, he's a magician."
"You didn't say that, I would've forgotten!" Clint Barton kept smiling, doing his best to make this meeting feel less tense—at least for Natasha Romanoff. "As long as his magic
