Vision carried the last unconscious agent out of the sinking Quinjet, his tone full of apology.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save everyone. This agent's neck needed to be stabilized. I've already straightened his cervical vertebrae."

"No, this isn't your fault." Captain Rogers looked toward the battlefield. The brilliant trails carved by missiles through the night sky were clearly visible, while the streams of autocannon fire resembled meteor showers. Realizing that the shallow earthquake and explosions could very likely trigger a tsunami, he asked Vision to take the agents to the undamaged Quinjet. "Sam, take me to the Helicarrier," he said. "I don't know what they were attacking, but it may have been related to the earthquake. Now that they've won, I intend to have a proper talk with them."

"Are you sure? They look pretty angry right now."

Rogers smiled. Sam had an incredible sense of humor, as though nothing could wear away his cheerfulness no matter where he was. "I have to go, Sam," he said. "I want to see what they accomplished—and bring Stark out while I'm at it."

Only after expending three full ammunition loads did Agent Victoria Hand order the gunnery officer to cease fire.

Once the order was issued, logistics personnel, including the staff from Damage Control, hurried to the weapon compartments for maintenance. The same was happening aboard the other two Helicarriers. Their work included servicing the automatic loading systems for the guns and missile launchers, maintaining the shipborne weapons, and counting ammunition stocks. The autocannon and main gun barrels were astonishingly hot, while the electromagnetic weapons required dedicated cooling systems before they could continue operating.
