Thanks to the engineering team's astonishing construction speed, Salomon and the Witch were able to move into the renovated manor.

The entrance hall, reception hall, living room, study, kitchen, dining room, and indoor swimming pool had all been completely transformed, with none of the decay that had lingered since 1898. The pool table in the game room had been removed and replaced with an enormous soft sofa and game consoles. The once-empty wine cellar was stocked with wine, whiskey, and brandy. The parking area had been fully renovated and fitted with a helipad, while the three-bedroom caretaker's cottage had been given to Dinah for use as a lounge and armory for her patrol squad.

Salomon had many reasons for leaving New York for Oxfordshire. The least significant was that his upcoming coursework would demand much of his time. The most important was that the aftermath of the Pym Technologies bombing had already found its way to him. Anyone who investigated carefully would discover that Salomon had been in contact with Dr. Hank Pym before the bombing.

The Intelligence Department's protection of Salomon's information was outrageously stringent. They even took control of cameras near him whenever necessary. But in the age of the Internet of Things, even dashcams could serve as surveillance devices, let alone before Vision, the ultimate Artificial Intelligence created by an Artificial Intelligence whose data-search capabilities far surpassed the Artificial Intelligence created by Harold Finch. The camera on anyone's phone could become a source of evidence. The Intelligence Department simply could not hack the electronic devices of every passerby who brushed past Salomon. The workload was too immense and too unrealistic, unless Salomon carried subroutines and a mobile terminal with him at all times.

In fact, the Sisterhood had gradually begun training its members in communications, and planned
