"Shrimp! Shrimp! Shrimp!"
"Shrimp! Shrimp! Shrimp!"
Outside the Main Domain City, the orcish cries reached the heavens. Millions of greenskins gathered across the planet, their violent shouts and primal roars echoing through the firmament.
They stomped the ground in unison, their rhythmic chanting coalescing into a war drum that shook the earth.
The greenskin battle line stretched for dozens of kilometers, impossible to see from end to end. Within a five-kilometer depth, the plains before the city were a sea of green, densely packed with all manner of siege weaponry.
The greenskin boss, standing nearly seven meters tall like a humanoid tank, leaned against a throne crafted from tusks and beast hide, his throat constantly vibrating with thunderous roars.
His patchwork armor was painted red. His left hand was a massive power claw, while his right was fitted with two human firearms crudely welded together in parallel.
"Shrimp are out! Shrimp are out!" A greenskin boy lowered his telescope, pointing at the Main Domain City gates and cheering wildly.
"Waaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Waaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!"
The green ocean surged. The greenskins opened their maws to reveal tusks, roaring loudly to release the violent battle intent suppressed within their hearts.
They waited only for the boss's command to charge and have a "pleasant" fight with the shrimp.
"Lads! Wait for all the shrimp to come out, then we charge and finish them off!" The greenskin boss pacified his restless subordinates, a malicious smile curling his lips.
Guided by Brother Gao Mao, he knew the shrimp were at their wit's end, now merely putting up a cornered beast's struggle.
"Wait! Wait! All! All! Tear them! Tear them!"
The greenskins were a terrifying sight, restlessly waving their weapons, their eyes burning red as they stared at the humans emerging from the city.
Faced with such a formation, an ordinary person might have already lost their nerve and fled.
The Night Watchers remained unmoved. Amidst the bloodthirsty roars of the greenskins, not even their heart rates shifted.
They formed their battle lines with disciplined order, slowly marching out of the city gates. Behind the elongated "V" shaped visors of their power armor helmets, their eyes were fearless and unwavering.
Less than twenty thousand strong, their entire force had exited the gates. They locked into a combat formation, ensuring their ranks would not be broken.
War scars covered their pure white power armor, and an aura of grim slaughter spread through the human ranks.
Now, no battle plan was needed. The Night Watchers were protecting the citizens of Nul for the last time. Until the final soldier fell, no enemy would cross their line.
Automatic weapons on the city walls began to charge. Non-combatant youths formed a conscript force, picking up rifles on the ramparts to provide what little long-range fire they could.
"Night Watchers! We have two ways to die now." King Norwick raised his sword at the front of the line, his presence drowning out even the greenskin roar: "To be drowned by the green tide on the walls, or to be drowned on the path of our advance. Which do you choose?"
"Advance! Advance! Advance!"
The Night Watchers slammed their right fists against their chest plates, the clanging sound ringing out incessantly. Their indomitable will remained unshaken by the million greenskins.
A warrior should die at the front, not beside the women and children.
"Forward! Humanity endures!"
King Norwick issued his final command, stepping into the formation where a place awaited him.
"Humanity endures!"
The Night Watchers raised their guardian spears and twisted the metal hilts. Azure beams erupted from the energy blades at the tips, striking straight into the orcish ranks.
The guardian spear was not only for melee; it was a powerful ranged weapon.
By increasing the power output, the triggered dimensional beam would rapidly extend, breaking through the protection of the tip's containment field to release a long-range ray that possessed immense cutting power.
"Lads! Charge! Chew up the shrimp!" The greenskin boss stretched his neck and roared, saliva spraying from his crude maw.
The greenskins rolled forward like a tide. Every time the Night Watchers' weapons flashed, a dozen greenskins were shredded, but before the next volley, the gaps were filled by even more orcs.
The youths on the walls fired with resolute faces. Without needing to aim, the blue energy beams fell into the green ocean, creating ripples of destruction.
The Night Watchers were valiant and skilled; they were warriors in the purest sense.
Trained as warriors their entire lives, they swung their guardian spears into a blur. Two-foot energy blades swept lightly, precisely cracking open orcish skulls.
With every swing, several greenskins were cut in half; with every upward flick of the light blade, another was cleaved in two.
Yet, before the infinite sea of greenskins, it was all in vain. The human army being swallowed was only a matter of time.
The orc boss paced restlessly on his throne, waving his power claw and shouting, ordering his subordinates to toy with the human army.
He strictly forbade his men from using ranged weapons, demanding they have a "pleasant" fight with teeth and blades.
The Night Watchers possessed superior will. The corpses of slaughtered orcs formed small hills at their feet, but the orcish tide never ceased for a moment.
They were pure warriors, one against a hundred, executing the most efficient slaughter with the simplest of moves.
But what of it? What if the Night Watchers could fight one against a hundred, or even one against a thousand?
The endless sea of greenskins was simply inexhaustible, giving the valiant warriors not a moment to catch their breath.
Finally, after a warrior had swung his blade and fired his weapon countless times, slaughtering more greenskins than could be counted, a trace of uncontrollable fatigue surged through his muscles. His fluid movements inevitably faltered for a split second.
A greenskin seized the opportunity to slam into him, knocking him to the ground and hacking at his pure white armor with a jagged blade, causing the activated defensive field to glow blue.
The watcher drove his knee into the greenskin, entirely unphased by the beast's hideous face. He calmly unclipped the hilt from his waist and ignited the blue light blade.
With a light swing, the dimensional blade passed through, severing the orc's gaping head. While the beast's mouth was still exhaling heat, the watcher had already risen, kicked his spear back into his hand, and returned to the formation.
More guards were pinned to the ground by greenskins, creating irreparable gaps in the battle formation as the orcs used their absolute numerical advantage to gradually drown the human forces.
The war fortress hovering in the sky saw its various weapons firing beyond their thresholds, the energy conduits having been overloaded for quite some time.
Even so, the artillery fire raining into the orc lines was but a drop in the bucket, failing to stir even a ripple against such overwhelming numbers.
At the center of the human line, King Norwick and the Great Swordmaster stood shoulder to shoulder, swords crossed, fighting in seamless coordination.
"Xilan." King Norwick lopped off a greenskin's head and called out to his old friend, "It is an honor to fight alongside you as a warrior."
The Great Swordmaster swung his twin blue light-blades, his swordsmanship precise and lethal, reaping greenskins like a meat grinder, yet he still had the breath to respond: "The honor is mine as well, King Norwick."
Behind them, lightning crackled; the High Priest's eyes glowed azure as he murmured incantations, channeling lightning from his palms through his faith, causing swathes of orcs to collapse amidst the electric arcs.
The High Priest maintained a humble and composed demeanor, utterly unconcerned by the greenskins surrounding them, even wearing a hopeful smile.
Every detail—the posture of a falling warrior, the twitching of muscles as a greenskin leaped—was exactly as it had appeared in the prophecy.
High Priest Isaac closed his eyes. In the prophecy of the gods, this place was no longer a land of human suffering; the Son of the Gods was about to descend upon Ring of Nul.
The priest chanted, unleashing lightning once more, and the final prophecy flashed through his soul—the moment of the God-Son's arrival had come.
When Isaac opened his eyes again, tears welled up; he had witnessed the arrival of the Child of Prophecy!
"Night Watchers, hold the line! We are saved!" The High Priest used his magic to amplify his voice, drowning out the deafening roars of the battlefield and carrying his words clearly to every warrior.
"Our savior has descended from beyond the sky; he shall bring destruction upon our enemies!"
The High Priest raised his staff toward the sky. The azure heavens were cloudless, and in the direction he pointed, a golden star appeared.
Something was piercing the atmosphere, rubbing violently against the air, flickering with a faint light of hope.
This was nearly impossible! The Night Watchers who witnessed the anomaly were filled with shock.
The Ring of Nul that orbited the planet generated a massive energy shield that enveloped the entire world, and almost no matter could penetrate it.
An incredible miracle had occurred, bringing boundless inspiration at humanity's most critical hour.
King Norwick's eyes filled with hot tears. The man-made object was rapidly crossing the atmosphere; perhaps the outside world had returned to normal, and other humans had come to their rescue.
"For humanity!" He raised his sword and shouted, his cheeks flushed crimson, his roar inspiring the warriors and drawing out their final reserves of potential.
The Night Watchers surged forward once more, fighting heroically; the surviving soldiers erupted with peerless strength, carving a bloody path as they converged toward the center.
"Waaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!"
The Orc Boss jumped off his throne in excitement. The potential erupted by the "shrimp" had stimulated him, and he had to get down there for a good fight.
Veins bulged on his green skin, and the Orc Boss's power klaw opened and closed involuntarily in his excitement. He strode forward, leaped off the throne, and charged toward the front line with his retinue!
Rushing and crashing, unstoppable!
The Orc Boss sprinted through the sea of greenskins; before he even reached the human line, many orcs were trampled into pulp beneath his feet.
The Boss didn't care; he only wanted to charge into the shrimp lines and slaughter them all!
As he drew closer, the Orc Boss could almost smell the exhaustion on the shrimp, yet they were incredibly excited, pointing behind him and acting strangely agitated.
Is there something behind this Boss?
The Orc Boss looked back in confusion and saw a fireball in the sky, falling at extreme speed toward the very center of the orc army—the location of his throne.
While he was still wondering, the fireball struck the orc formation with massive kinetic energy, and the Orc Boss's vision went black as he lost consciousness.
His final question was: why were fireballs falling from the sky?
"Boom!" The fireball hit the ground! It was as if the world were being torn asunder!
The shockwave was followed by a deafening roar; a violent explosion echoed across the wasteland, and a mushroom cloud bloomed outside the main domain wall of the guards.
The rising dust, accompanied by the shockwave, slammed into the city walls, and some people were caught off guard, blown away like fallen leaves in the wind.
On the battlefield before the wall, the orcs scrambled in terror.
Blue light flickered on the Night Watchers as their personal protective fields resisted the shockwave; they knelt, stabbing their spears into the ground to avoid being blown away.
The High Priest's staff fell to the ground; he gritted his teeth and spread his arms, erecting a translucent magic shield to protect King Norwick inside.
Amidst the swirling sand and flying debris, the orcs wailed and fled in all directions, while the human warriors struggled to steady themselves despite being deafened.
As the smoke and dust gradually dissipated, King Norwick and his companions struggled to their feet, stunned by the scene before them.
