Background / History

Menma’s soul is reincarnated, but his body is the biological child of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. While living with Naruto, he gradually accepts Minato and Kushina as his true parents. At one point, he secretly takes tissue from Kushina’s grave and uses Impure World Reincarnation to revive her. 23

He grew up alongside Naruto in difficult circumstances. The brothers shared a home, argued over food and money, and depended on each other well before their family situation changed. 179 180

Menma received special permission to leave the Ninja Academy freely so long as he did not disrupt class. His talent quickly outpaced ordinary students: by the time of the Akatsuki intelligence meeting, Tsunade identifies him as a jōnin. 78 150

Urashiki’s Karma became Menma’s central danger. During Mizuki’s prison escape, Urashiki seized control of him and attacked his own companions. Horrified by what he might do if controlled again, Menma chose to leave Konoha and train at Mount Myōboku, seeking senjutsu as a way to restrain the Karma. 176 177

After arriving in an earlier era, Menma traveled with Little Fish, guarded his origins carefully, and eventually proved his Uzumaki blood to the Uzumaki Clan by opening their secret chamber. Personality

Menma is intelligent, observant, and extremely secretive about information that could endanger himself or those close to him. He routinely constructs plausible explanations for knowledge he cannot openly reveal, such as claiming that a clone discovered intelligence he already knew. 273

He is protective of family and comrades. After Urashiki injures his teammates while controlling him, Menma visits them in the hospital, apologizes, and leaves Konoha rather than risk harming them again. He is equally cautious about revealing Little Fish’s existence and origins in a dangerous era. 177 312

Menma is also provocative and playful in battle. He taunts opponents such as Wind God and Thunder God, teases Sasuke during their confrontation, and plays pranks on Sora. 172 327 432 His humor does not prevent ruthlessness: during the campaign against Tetsuya Mitsukuma, he kills the estate’s adult occupants but spares the children because of the kindness once shown to him by their ancestor. 343
