Background / History

During the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha, Minato and Kushina shielded Naruto from the Nine-Tails' claw. Mortally wounded, Minato invoked the Dead Demon Consuming Seal and sealed the Nine-Tails' power into Naruto and Menma. Before dying, he entrusted the seal's key to Gamatora for Jiraiya and left a portion of his chakra within both sons to aid them in the future. 1

Menma later recovered the Death God Mask and enlisted Orochimaru's assistance to release Minato's soul. Using a White Zetsu as the vessel, Menma performed the Impure World Reincarnation and restored Minato in an Edo Tensei body. Minato reunited with Kushina, Menma, and Naruto, learning of his sons' growth since his death. 147 148

Nagato's Rinne Rebirth ultimately returned Minato and Kushina to living bodies. This ended Minato's limitless chakra and immortality as an Edo Tensei, requiring him to manage his chakra normally once more. 385

Personality

Minato is deeply protective of his family. His final act during the Nine-Tails' attack was to protect Naruto and Menma, and he later refuses to let Naruto face Pain alone while he is able to intervene. 1 375
