Word quickly spread from Konoha, soon reaching the entire Shinobi World.

The killer who had slaughtered the Uchiha Clan, a thousand-year-old clan, had been captured. Uchiha Itachi, the missing-nin wanted by Konoha, would be publicly executed at ten in the morning three days later.

The news sent all of Konoha into a frenzy. The Uchiha massacre had been an unprecedented event in Konoha's history, leaving countless people shocked and many clans deeply unsettled.

Now, the killer responsible for the massacre, Uchiha Itachi, had actually been caught. Even the Third Hokage hadn't managed to accomplish that during his time in office.

Tsunade had also gained an unexpected benefit from this: her prestige and reputation among the clans had risen once again.

Lady Tsunade was a capable Hokage.

In the brutal Shinobi World, the ninjas of each village had only one expectation—or rather, one requirement—for their Kage: they had to be capable and resourceful, able to protect the village and secure more funding and missions for it.

"Jiraiya, do you think Kizaru had already foreseen that things would turn out this way?" Sitting in the Hokage's seat, Tsunade had just heard Shizune report the villagers' praise for her. She couldn't help admiring Kizaru's deep foresight even more.

"Ah! I suppose so!" Jiraiya's mind was still turning over the advice Kizaru had given him the previous night.

"What's wrong with you? You've been distracted since this morning." Tsunade wasn't pleased with Jiraiya's attitude.

"Ahaha! I had a bit to drink last night and didn't sleep well," Jiraiya said with an awkward laugh.

Tsunade saw right through Jiraiya's flimsy excuse. She didn't call her friend out on his lie, though. Instead, she looked away and continued handling the paperwork in front of her.

Standing diagonally behind Tsunade, Jiraiya watched her bend over her work,
