Under the watchful eyes of both the Marines and the World Government, the teams led by Kizaru and Danzo spent the night resting on the Sabaody Archipelago.
The next morning, Kizaru didn't leave with Danzo's fleet. Instead, he stayed behind at the bar.
In Kizaru's estimation, Danzo's negotiations with the Fish-Man Race wouldn't proceed quickly. If he went along at the start, there was a good chance he'd have nothing to do.
The Fish-Man Race was a complicated people. On the one hand, they considered themselves stronger than ordinary humans, yet they were often plundered by pirates and oppressed by the World Government.
This made a considerable number of fish-men deeply hostile toward humans. But with their strength, they couldn't stand up to the World Government, let alone the Four Emperors or even the powerful Shichibukai. Any of them could inflict tremendous damage on the fish-men.
With a people like that, simple gestures of goodwill wouldn't work. They needed a certain degree of intimidation first, followed by an offer of goodwill.
Kizaru had left the initial show of force to Danzo. As for the goodwill afterward, that depended on whether the Fish-Man Race could withstand Danzo's threats. If they simply fell to their knees, there'd naturally be less goodwill to offer later.
At Shakky's bar, after seeing Danzo off, Kizaru and Rayleigh had started drinking at the counter early that morning. Only after each man had downed a bottle of whiskey did they get down to business.
"When are we leaving?" Rayleigh asked.
Kizaru turned to look at the dazzling sunlight outside the bar. "Let's go now, then!"
With that, Kizaru smiled at Rayleigh and Shakky and continued, "Are you two ready?"
"We're leaving right now? Have you prepared a ship?" Shakky asked curiously.
"No ship needed. I'll teleport you
