History
Original academy
Shrek Academy recruited Yun Qianzhao and Yun Qianyue after Cai Yue'er, Dean of the Outer Court, discovered their rank-nine innate soul power. The twins accepted because the academy possessed resources few Federation organizations could match, despite privately resenting its confidence and prestige 2.
The original campus stood at the center of Shrek City, a city so prosperous that the academy itself was described as surpassing many major cities in scale and activity. Its stores of cultivation resources included rare materials such as Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice 5 6.
The academy’s leadership operated through the Sea God Pavilion. Its elders regarded the Shrek Seven Devils as the academy’s highest student honor and presented the institution as a guardian of continental peace and stability across its long history 35 36.
Exceptional students and public representation
Shrek’s formal enrollment age was twelve, though exceptional talents could receive special treatment or bypass ordinary rules. Na'er was admitted directly into the Inner Court, while the twelve-year-old Yun twins became the unprecedented homeroom teachers of Freshman Class One 9 12 17.
Yun Qianzhao, Yun Qianyue, Na'er, Tang Wulin, and Gu Yue were named Lifetime Shrek Seven Devils; Qianzhao became captain and Tang Wulin vice-captain. Their group also received the title of Substitute Shrek Seven Devils 35.
The academy used the group’s final assessment to publicly challenge Heaven Dou, Star Luo, and Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academies. The highly visible challenges reinforced Shrek’s reputation, but also drew criticism for its imposing and confrontational style 38 40 55.
Shrek Academy also maintained secret interests beyond its campus. Devil Island was described as academy territory, and the North Sea Legion routinely allowed Shrek students to pass through its defense zone en route to the island 110 115.
Destruction of Shrek City
The Holy Spirit Cult attacked Shrek City with two Level Twelve Fixed Soul Guidance Cannonballs. The weapons passed through the checkpoint through Spirit Pagoda arrangements, and Shrek’s leaders concluded that the Spirit Pagoda had helped conceal their auras 148.
During the attack, Yun Qianzhao and Yun Qianyue used a large-scale spacetime transfer to evacuate several million residents of Shrek City. The cannonball strike nevertheless destroyed Shrek City and Shrek Academy; Yun Ming sacrificed himself to save the population 149.
Survivors included Ya Li, Long Yeyue, Wu Changkong, Inner Court students, and Outer Court students who had reached underground shelters. Subsequent investigation found that nearly all evidence pointed to the Spirit Pagoda and Holy Spirit Cult, while Zang Xin believed the Federation also could not be absolved of responsibility 153 154.
Reconstruction in Ming Capital
Following the destruction, the twins negotiated directly with Federation representatives. They demanded resettlement for Shrek City’s displaced residents and announced their intention to rebuild Shrek Academy in Ming Capital, since radiation made the original site uninhabitable 150.
Public support for the twins and the people they saved pressured the Federation into accepting the reconstruction. The chief chairman publicly announced the academy’s rebuilding, while the Blacksmith Association pledged institutional support and promised that Zhen Hua would personally teach there at times 151 152.
The reconstruction deliberately separated itself from the old academy. The twins declined offers from original Shrek graduates to become faculty, fearing that their return would simply recreate the former institution 153.
Governance
Sea God Pavilion
The Sea God Pavilion served as the original academy’s highest governing body. It handled major admissions decisions, appointed the Shrek Seven Devils, and directed academy policy through elders such as Yun Ming, Long Yeyue, Cai Yue'er, Ya Li, and Zhuo Shi 12 35 36.
After the destruction, Long Yeyue recognized the twins as the new Sea God Pavilion Master and Vice Pavilion Master. Their authority was later accepted by returning students led by Wu Changkong 154 183.
Sun Moon Pavilion
The reconstructed academy’s highest governing body was planned as the Sun Moon Pavilion, replacing the Sea God Pavilion. Ya Li supported the change, viewing it as a symbol of Shrek Academy’s rebirth under the Sun-Moon Twins 153 159.
The twins’ administration recruited new faculty and allies rather than restoring the prior structure. Mu Ye agreed to serve as a guest instructor, while the Sun Moon Imperial Clan dispatched two Super Douluo and eight Title Douluo to support the rebuilt academy 153 160.
Education and Campus
- Outer Court and Inner Court — Shrek Academy maintained separate Outer and Inner Courts; Cai Yue'er served as Outer Court Dean, while exceptional talents could receive direct Inner Court admission 2 12.
- Sea God Island — The original academy’s leadership and Sea God Pavilion were based on Sea God Island 12 35.
- Shrek Seven Devils — The academy treated this title as its highest student honor and heavily cultivated those selected for it 35 36.
- High admission standards — The rebuilt academy retained demanding entry standards despite public protests calling for them to be lowered 168.
- Ming Capital campus — The new site was established in Ming Capital’s western district, where construction began after the destruction of Shrek City 150 157.
Ideology and Internal Conflict
The twins regarded the former academy as complacent, overly reliant on its legacy, and dangerously influential despite lacking direct military control. They believed its arrogance and visibility made destruction inevitable 120 141.
Under the Sun Moon Pavilion, Shrek Academy was intended to become an institution serving humanity’s development and an “absolutely unified and incorruptible Federation,” rather than preserving the old academy’s policies 168 177.
This transformation divided Shrek’s survivors and allies. Long Yeyue rejected the rebuilt academy’s support for the Federation’s war against the Star Luo and Dou Ling Empires, arguing that the real Shrek Academy would never endorse such a conflict 176 177.
The Tang Sect likewise disputed the twins’ legitimacy, but Cao Dezhi acknowledged that Ya Li’s support, Yun Ming’s Heavenly Spear, and the twins’ status as Yun Ming’s direct disciples gave them the strongest claim to represent Shrek Academy 189.
Relationships
- Federation — Shrek Academy held enough influence that its decisions could affect Federation policy. After the destruction, the Federation was compelled to support its rebuilding; the new leadership later agreed to support the Federation’s war under conditions concerning the Holy Spirit Cult 12 150 169.
- Tang Sect — Historically close through the legacy of the Shrek Seven Devils, but their relationship became openly hostile after the rebuilt academy changed its direction and supported the Federation’s war 45 171 189.
- Spirit Pagoda — A longstanding rival whose relationship with Shrek Academy was openly tense. The academy’s leaders identified Spirit Pagoda involvement in the attack on Shrek City, and the conflict continued after reconstruction 6 148 154.
- Blacksmith Association — A reconstruction ally. Zhen Hua publicly backed the academy, while Mu Ye and other forging-related figures were invited to join its new faculty structure 152 153 155.
- Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy — Participated in a formal exchange program and arena match with Shrek Academy before the latter’s destruction 55 56 59.
- North Sea Legion — Maintained a long-standing practical relationship with Shrek Academy, including allowing academy students to travel through its defense zone toward Devil Island 110 115.
