Background / History
Physician of Green Mountain Town
Xiao Yi Xian had lived at the Ten Thousand Medicine Pavilion for years after Boss Yao took her in. She treated mercenaries, prepared medicinal powders, and accompanied herb-gathering teams into the Magical Beast Mountain Range. Her medical work and popularity were major reasons for the pavilion’s success 67 71 73.
Her childhood ambition was to become an alchemist, but her attributes prevented her from following that profession. She became a physician instead and learned to prepare poisons for self-defense 64 65 67.
Cave Incident and Awakening
During an expedition, she noticed freshly cut vegetation leading toward a cliff. After sending Xiao Lan ahead to scout, she found an unripe White Orchid Fruit and memorized its location. Further investigation led her into a cave containing poison laid by Xiao Yang for protection during his seclusion 62 63.
The poison rendered her unconscious despite her attempt to take medicine. Her body continued absorbing it, increasing her cultivation and clearing the cave’s air. Mu Li subsequently threatened her, but Xiao Yang killed him and his accompanying mercenaries. She refused to blame Xiao Yang for the poisoning, recognizing that he had acted for self-preservation 63 64.
The Seven-Colored Poison Scripture revealed that she possessed the Woe Poison Body. Terrified that an eventual outbreak could kill innocent people, she briefly considered jumping from the cliff. Xiao Yang restored her hope by explaining possible ways to control the constitution 65.
Leaving the Pavilion
Xiao Yi Xian offered to join Xiao Yang’s clan or become his maidservant in exchange for access to the Poison Pill method. He agreed to help and explained that the method was held by his teacher. She also directed him to a secluded, herb-rich valley she had discovered with Xiao Lan 67 68.
After spending a week in the valley gathering herbs and watching Xiao Yang refine pills, she returned to Green Mountain Town to collect her belongings. Boss Yao tried to confine her, claiming she owed the pavilion for its expenses. Mu She then arrived seeking revenge for Mu Li’s death and attacked both her and Xiao Yang. Xiao Yang killed him, allowing her to leave 70 71 72 73.
A later investigation revealed that her maid had disclosed her departure from camp to Mu Li’s group. This betrayal compounded the shock of discovering her constitution and Boss Yao’s intentions 76.
Life with the Xiao Clan
Xiao Yang brought her to the Xiao Clan, introduced her to Xiao Yan, and arranged a room near his courtyard. He then consulted Yao Lao about controlling her constitution 73 74.
After explaining the Method of the Origin Core, Xiao Yang supported her through an emotional breakdown and taught her the technique. She successfully condensed a Poison Core under supervision, with Yao Lao nearby to destroy any escaped toxins using his Heavenly Flame 75 76.
By the time Xiao Yang prepared to leave for the Yanfeng Empire, she had become a physician in the Xiao Clan marketplace, reached Dou Zhe, and befriended Xun’er. Although she wanted to accompany him, she abandoned the idea after learning how far he intended to travel. She instead supplied him with poisons and asked him to return safely 93.
Appearance
Xiao Yi Xian is described as a youthful, exceptionally beautiful girl with a fresh, ethereal bearing 62 71.
- Clothing: Wears a pale white dress during the herb-gathering expedition 62.
- Constitution marker: Has a seven-colored line on her lower abdomen, confirming the Woe Poison Body 65.
- Expressions: Blushes conspicuously when embarrassed, including when Xiao Yan mistakes her for Xiao Yang’s partner 67 73.
Personality
Xiao Yi Xian is deeply compassionate. She sometimes treats injured mercenaries for free and initially uses poison only to protect herself. Even while threatened by Mu Li, she asks him to spare Xiao Yang rather than let an apparent stranger suffer because of her 64 76.
Her fear of the Woe Poison Body centers on the innocent people she might harm. Despite her attachment to Green Mountain Town, she resolves to leave because remaining there could eventually turn it into a dead zone. She also retains gratitude toward Boss Yao for taking her in, even after recognizing his betrayal 65 71 73.
She is curious about alchemy and eagerly watches Xiao Yang’s refinements. Repeated betrayals and her dangerous constitution leave her emotionally vulnerable, but she continues seeking treatment, adapting to a new home, and cultivating 69 70 76 93.
Abilities & Skills
Woe Poison Body
A rare constitution that converts absorbed poison into cultivation energy 64 74 93.
- Poison-driven growth: Poison serves as nourishment rather than merely a harmful substance 64.
- Increasing cravings: Awakening produces a persistent desire for poison; ordinary cultivation alone is too slow to meet her immediate needs 69 74.
- Outbreak danger: Accumulated toxins can erupt and turn an entire city into a dead zone. Consuming more poison accelerates this danger unless the toxins are controlled 74.
- Toxic bodily fluids: Before sealing her poison, even her tears contain toxins. Prolonged contact leaves Xiao Yang’s chest numb enough that he takes a Detoxification Pill 76.
- Alchemy limitation: Her attributes prevent conventional alchemy, and her naturally poisonous Dou Qi would make any pills she refined unsafe for others 69.
Method of the Origin Core
A level-eight secret art created when Xiao Yang amplified the poison-sealing method from the Seven-Colored Poison Scripture eighty-eightfold. She learns it directly from him 75 76.
- Condenses her Woe Poison into a core within her dantian 76.
- Enables safe poison consumption and removes her immediate fear of an outbreak 76.
- Has a finite capacity; Xiao Yang estimates it can support her through extremely high cultivation, potentially into the Saint of Fighting realm. This is an estimate, not a demonstrated limit 75.
- Provides time to seek a more permanent solution rather than requiring immediate acquisition of rare materials 75.
Medicine and Poison Preparation
She prepares medicinal powders, identifies herbs, and treats injuries and illnesses as a physician 63 71 93.
- Medical practice: Treats conditions such as broken bones and illnesses that basic external-wound medicines do not adequately address 93.
- Defensive poisons: Carries preparations capable of inducing deep sleep 71.
- Woe Poison mixtures: Later supplies Xiao Yang with poisons containing her own Woe Poison, dangerous even to some experts if they are careless 93.
- Preparation limit: Xiao Yang’s refined poisons are stronger than hers because he processes the ingredients before mixing them 83.
Wilderness Knowledge and Xiao Lan Handling
Her repeated herb-gathering trips give her practical knowledge of the Magical Beast Mountain Range 63.
- Recognizes recently disturbed vegetation and distinguishes it from her expedition’s route 63.
- Uses Xiao Lan to scout ahead and interprets its return without a warning sound as a sign of safety 63.
- Knows a hidden valley protected by natural mist, rich in medicinal herbs and avoided by magical beasts 67.
- Summons Xiao Lan with a specially made whistle and travels on its back 62 70 73.
Treatment Methods
| Method | Requirements or Function | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Method of the Origin Core | Seals toxins inside an internal core. | Successfully learned and used by Xiao Yi Xian 76. |
| Poison Pill method | Requires three Heavenly Flames, Bodhi Body Transformation Saliva, and a rank-seven Heaven Poison Scorpion Dragon Beast core. | Explained to her; not performed. Yao Lao’s recorded version is only 78% complete 74 75. |
| Nether Seal | Temporarily seals Woe Poison toxins. | Supplied by Yao Lao to Xiao Yang; not shown being used by her 74. |
| Nether Poison Flame | Xiao Yang suggests its poison-absorbing properties might help control her constitution. | Proposed possibility; neither obtained nor tested 65. |
