Vortigern was currently locked in a vexing struggle with King Uther. Relying on his smaller stature and agility, King Uther darted and weaved, leaving Vortigern unable to land a single blow.
Both men knew the truth: while King Uther could inflict damage on Vortigern, it was essentially nothing more than superficial scratches. To a madman like Vortigern, these wouldn't even cause a frown, yet if Vortigern landed just one hit on King Uther, the King would likely be left critically wounded and on the brink of death.
The body of a dragon granted Vortigern far too many advantages.
Suddenly, Vortigern felt a shadow loom over his head.
A massive fragment of a building came hurtling toward his skull.
Vortigern swatted the debris to pieces with a claw, but in that split second, King Uther seized the opening and drove his sword deep into Vortigern's armpit.
Stung by the pain, Vortigern let out a furious roar and swiped at King Uther, who dodged the strike with a nimble sidestep.
Anno was currently standing on high ground, holding a massive stone in his hands.
With a powerful heave, Anno hurled the stone; just like the building fragment before it, it flew straight toward Vortigern's head.
King Uther's face lit up with joy, cheering inwardly.
This Sir Anno was truly an unexpected knight. While such attacks wouldn't directly harm Vortigern, they diverted his attention and bought the King precious opportunities to strike.
"Damned rat!" Vortigern roared. "Come out and cross blades with me!"
Anno ignored him, found another piece of debris, and threw it at the white Demon Dragon.
"Uther, aren't you knights supposed to be all about honor and fairness!" Vortigern bellowed, swatting away the debris. "Is this your idea of fairness?!"
"Fairness exists between the struggles of men," King Uther sneered. "What does that have to do with a non-human thing like you!"
As he spoke, his longsword sliced off another dragon scale.
Vortigern cursed under his breath. That unknown, despicable knight was having a significant impact on him; if this attrition continued, he would surely be the one to lose.
Raising half his body, the Demon Dragon unleashed his breath once more.
King Uther scrambled to dodge.
But the breath wasn't aimed at him—it was aimed at Anno in the distance.
The breath arrived with extreme speed. Unable to dodge in time, Anno could only hold up a piece of debris he had scavenged as a shield.
The debris was instantly obliterated by the assault, leaving a path of destruction in the wake of the breath.
Vortigern sneered. With that annoying knight dealt with, he could focus on King Uther with much greater ease.
But just then, a cold light flashed.
An iron spear flew from out of nowhere, piercing straight into the Demon Dragon's hind leg.
It was Anno.
Vortigern flew into a blind rage from the pain.
A furious Demon Dragon was far more than King Uther could handle; a wing struck the King, sending him flying.
King Uther slammed into a wall and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Vortigern followed up instantly, and in his loss of reason, he slammed a palm down toward King Uther.
"Ah!!!" King Uther forced himself up with a roar, standing his ground as he drove his greatsword deep into the center of Vortigern's palm.
ROAR!!!
Vortigern let out a miserable shriek.
King Uther pulled his sword free and swung again.
But it only pierced shallowly into Vortigern's chest, unable to penetrate any further.
"My King, I am here to assist you!" Anno's voice rang out.
King Uther felt his exhausted body being supported from behind.
Gripping the greatsword with both hands, and with the strength provided from behind, the blade finally pierced into the body of the Demon Dragon.
