A police officer named Thomas braved the flames, picked up Alessa, whose body had been burned black all over, and carried her away. As a result, his hands were badly burned by the fire.

In the scene before Rose, the badly burned Alessa lying in the hospital bed and the young Alessa in purple outside the curtain slowly brought their palms together through the drapes.

In an instant, Darkness spread across the curtain like a spiderweb, then burst forth like a breached dam and swept through the entire town.

Everything around them collapsed and shattered, turning into dilapidated buildings.
