Baphomet's Target

Wu Heng did not know Baphomet. Even if Baphomet stood before him, he would not recognize it.

But he knew Baphomet's name.

Combined with the bodies of the Nightwalker Clan in the cave, which had clearly only recently been transformed, and the information in their prayers, the only one that fit was Baphomet.

According to the records in the story, Baphomet had created its own hell, Midian, and summoned many different races from all over the world, forming the "Nightwalker Clan," also known as the "Race of the Moon."

Its blood was used by the Nightwalker Clan in baptismal rituals.

Once ordinary humans came into contact with that blood, they could become Nightwalkers and gain unique abilities.

But just as humans transformed into Cursed Disciples, it was particularly difficult for Nightwalkers to advance to demon rank. Baphomet's trait was akin to "burning."

Souls whose traits matched its own and qualified them to advance to demon rank were extremely scarce.

It might once have amassed quite a few demon-rank Nightwalkers. These demon-rank Nightwalkers had transcended death and were enough to rival the Cenobites.

The entire Nightwalker Clan was savage by nature, always ready to fight anyone who refused to submit.

Some of the most battle-capable warriors even had to be confined beneath Midian's dungeons, released only in times of war. They were called "Berserkers."

Simply put, Baphomet had once been glorious.

But later, it turned against Heaven, believing that Heaven did not deserve to be called Heaven at all, and interfered with the faith of the human world.

In its extreme arrogance, many angels who had yet to betray Heaven, led by archangels such as Uriel, joined with human warriors to invade Midian.
