A three-dimensional crimson crystal snowflake spun endlessly, radiating an eerie aura.
The snowflake seemed to detect the two men's arrival. A red beam shot from one of its icy spikes and struck them, leaving them both blankly stunned for a moment.
Then realization dawned in their eyes.
"Andrei, maybe our fate really can change. What do you think? Damn it, I shouldn't have drunk so much. My head's still a little dizzy."
Ivan looked regretful yet conflicted, his expression a mixture of excitement and hesitation.
Andrei beside him looked much the same.
That was because they had already understood the purpose of the black light barrier, the vast empty space within it, and those black vortex doors.
This was a trial ground.
Behind every black vortex door was a kind of monster, and each monster came with a special storyline.
After entering a black vortex door, they would receive certain missions.
As long as they completed the missions, they could obtain strength, lifespan, and wealth far beyond that of ordinary people. Any one of those was enough to change their current fate.
But high rewards also came with high risks.
They had started businesses and failed at stock investments before, but they could still become vagrants and muddle through life. Yet if they failed here, death would be the only thing waiting for them.
In other words, this was a place to gamble with their lives.
Win, and they would rise above others; lose, and they would die, body and soul!
The flush on Andrei's face had faded by ninety percent. That was his drinking talent: he got drunk quickly, sobered up just as quickly, and never got more than eighty percent drunk. He had never been completely wasted.
His mind grew clearer and clearer, while his expression kept changing.
