Boiling Daigo into Soup

The monster before them had been hit full in the face by the smoke bomb, yet it showed no anger or other extreme reaction. Instead, it began digging a hole on the spot.

The monster's two sharp claws rapidly scraped at the ground, instantly kicking up a cloud of dust even larger than the smoke bomb's range and completely swallowing its massive body.

Faced with this sudden development, the two people in the aircraft were at a loss as well. Rena Nanase piloted the GUTS Wing in circles outside the dust cloud.

However, with the dust obscuring their vision, neither of them dared fly inside. They could only wait for it to disperse on its own.

Before long, the wind blew all the dust away. The enormous monster had vanished, leaving behind only a shallow pit. The soil within was clearly looser than the surrounding ground, likely the trace left behind when the monster had burrowed underground.

"Daigo, see which direction that monster went," Rena asked from the pilot's seat.

However, Daigo had practically pressed his face against the radar display. He stared at it from every angle as though he had discovered something unbelievable. "This is incredible. That monster disappeared."

"What? Disappeared?" Rena found that strange as well.

Daigo scratched his head, deeply puzzled. "Yeah. From the moment it went underground, it was like it vanished into thin air. We can't detect any information about it at all."

Just as the two were about to continue tracking the monster, a colleague's voice came through the aircraft's communicator. "Rena, Daigo, return to base. Personnel from the local branch have taken over the scene."

The GUTS Wing was equipped with high-definition cameras, and footage of the monster had already been transmitted back to base. Headquarters naturally attached great importance to this
