Background / History

Before becoming a true god, Poseidon established himself as master of the seas. He compelled Sea Soul Beasts to offer their origin and required Sea Soul Masters to pray at Sea God Hall, punishing those who refused. Weaker Sea Soul Beasts could die after their origin was extracted, while Sea Soul Masters who would not worship him were driven from the seas. 159

Long Yun confronted Poseidon at Sea God Mountain after witnessing injured Sea Soul Beasts and exhausted Sea Soul Masters beneath the altar. Poseidon’s oceanic divine power was dismantled by Long Yun’s Nine-Colored Origin, and his Sea God Trident was stopped barehanded. Long Yun abolished the sea sacrificial ceremonies and returned the stolen faith and origin power to their owners. 159

Poseidon later used Sea Soul Beasts as instruments for harvesting faith. He infused them with divine power, drove them to attack island settlements, then arrived as a savior after the victims had suffered enough losses. The resulting gratitude and worship strengthened his godhood. 9 139

After Long Yun exposed these actions, Poseidon knelt and admitted that he had created disasters to accelerate the consolidation of his godhead. He promised to restrain Sea Soul Beasts and preserve peace between them and humanity. 139 He maintained peace for several centuries, during which the God Realm completed his incomplete divine position and enabled his ascension. 140

Despite this, Poseidon later resumed manipulating Sea Soul Beasts. He engineered the attack on Bo Saixi’s home village, while Long Yun was the one who froze the waves, extracted Poseidon’s control from the beasts, and saved the surviving child. Poseidon then descended after Long Yun left, falsely claimed responsibility for the rescue, and sealed the Sea Dragon Beast’s consciousness to conceal the truth. 140 141

He is also evasive when confronted with his past. Although he admitted to arranging beast attacks for faith, he later characterized these actions as necessary measures rather than wrongdoing. 139 160 His apparent remorse is undermined by his later manipulation of Bo Saixi and his continued intent to use Tang San in plans against Long Yun. 141

When faced with overwhelming strength, Poseidon prioritizes survival. Long Yun’s power forced him to kneel and beg for mercy after his attack was effortlessly repelled. 138 139

The Sky Screen reveals Poseidon’s conflict with Long Yun in the ancient era. Poseidon confronts Long Yun for entering “his” sea and disrupting the Sea Soul Beasts he had been controlling, but Long Yun slaps away the Sea God Trident and forces Poseidon to kneel. 137 138
