An Adeptus Custodes drew his chainsword and slashed it directly at his companion's body.
With a harsh screech, the chainsword chipped, and even after a follow-up shot from a bolter at point-blank range, the Saiyan Armor remained completely unscathed.
The Adeptus Custodes switched to more powerful Melta Weapons and plasma weapons to continue the testing, but the results remained the same: the combat suit could not be breached.
Finally, the Adeptus Custodes removed the protective suit, draped it over a mannequin, and performed a cutting test with a power sword, which finally succeeded in piercing the defense.
Seeing this, Axis curled his lips into a smile; the Saiyan Armor could withstand a thousand points of damage, and attacks below 500 points stood no chance of breaking through.
Among the current individual weapons of the Imperium of Man, only power weapons could penetrate it.
After all, it was a matter of disrupting molecular structures; the suit could not defend against that kind of damage, but then again, neither could Power Armor.
Moreover, power weapons were extremely precious within the Imperium, not common items; only elite warriors could wield them, while most melee weapons were merely monomolecular knives and chainswords.
"The defensive capabilities of this combat suit are truly astonishing, but it has its drawbacks. Unlike Power Armor, it cannot enhance a soldier's strength or running speed, nor does it provide full-body protection, and it lacks an internal oxygen circulation system, making it incapable of combat in a vacuum."
After watching the test results, Emperor provided a very objective evaluation: the defense was indeed impressive, but the flaws were equally immense.
In Emperor's view, the value of this combat suit was not even equal to that energy weapon.
"Cracking its manufacturing process will take a significant amount of time, and this suit cannot replace Power Armor," the Tech-Priest standing to the side remarked.
"It could serve as an inner layer, worn beneath the armor of Space Marines or the Adeptus Custodes," Leman Russ suggested.
"I will take this combat suit to Holy Terra for reverse engineering. Archmagos Kreski, our spaceship still requires maintenance. You also need to craft a brand-new set of Power Armor for my gene-sons, so go attend to your duties! The upcoming tests no longer involve weaponry, and your presence is not required." Emperor waved his hand dismissively.
Emperor intended to equip the Adeptus Custodes with this combat suit; Holy Terra had specialized weapons departments capable of producing all the gear for the Custodes, so there was no need to hand this over to the Adeptus Mechanicus of Mars.
Furthermore, Emperor had a premonition that what was to be displayed next should not be seen by too many people.
The members of the Mechanicus nodded to Emperor, packed up the Scouter and the energy gun, and collectively departed the training grounds.
They had already gained enough today—it could be called a full harvest. As for the combat suit, the Mechanicus did not have much interest in it; it was not a steel construct and did not align with the faith of the Omnissiah.
"All Space Marines of the 6th Legion Space Wolves, as well as all Techmarines, withdraw. Only the Adeptus Custodes, Leman Russ, and Axis are to remain here," Emperor issued another order.
Soon, fewer than ten people remained in the entire training ground: Emperor himself, four Adeptus Custodes, Leman Russ, and Axis.
"Tell me, Russ, what is the purpose of this spaceship?" Emperor approached the eyeball-shaped craft and asked, running his hand over it.
The material on its surface was a metal harder than plasteel, perhaps even reaching the level of adamantium, and it was an unknown substance he had never encountered before.
"Father, I originally intended to show this to you last! Don't you want to see the special medical tank as well?" Russ asked.
"A medical tank? Where is it?" Emperor looked at Russ with some curiosity. This eyeball-shaped spaceship wasn't even large enough to seat a towering Astartes, so where could a medical tank possibly be stored?
Russ smiled, pulled a capsule from his pocket, and tossed it onto the ground. After a burst of smoke, a massive medical tank, approximately 3.5 meters high and 6 meters wide, appeared before Emperor and the Adeptus Custodes.
"This is spatial technology! Is this some form of space-compression and folding storage?" Emperor's expression shifted as he looked at Leman Russ.
This boy truly knew how to surprise him; it was fortunate he had just cleared out the people from Mars.
Even during the peak of the Dark Age of Technology, such small-scale civilian-grade spatial technology had not been fully mastered.
The empire he had built was starting from nothing, and this kind of small-scale spatial compression technology was something the Imperium dared not even dream of.
"That is correct, Father. This is spatial technology; take it if you like! It was meant for you anyway! As long as the patient hasn't died on the spot, this medical tank can repair them; it only takes 24 hours to complete the restoration," Leman Russ said.
Emperor pondered this. If it could repair anyone who wasn't dead, then using this medical tank for the surgical modifications of Space Marines or the Adeptus Custodes would surely increase the success rate significantly!
Thinking even further, could it perhaps even repair those Space Marines or Custodes interred within Dreadnoughts?
"Can it regenerate severed limbs?" Emperor asked.
"That, it cannot," Axis shook his head and said.
After the Great King was rescued by Cooler, he had been unable to regenerate his limbs, so the medical tank was incapable of limb regeneration.
"Then its value is significantly diminished. Send it to Holy Terra! This little trinket of spatial technology is the true, priceless treasure." In Emperor's view, the item containing the technology for spatial folding and compression was the most precious of all.
If it could be mass-produced, the benefits would be beyond description. For example, when transporting goods in the future, one would only need this technology; a single Battle Barge could carry the cargo of a thousand, or even ten thousand, previous ships.
A Space Marine could also carry more ammunition, more weapons, and more supplies—the advantages were endless.
"Now, can you tell me the special function of this small spaceship?" Emperor asked.
Previously, he had assumed it was merely a common escape pod or landing craft, but now it seemed to be more than that. Equipped with spatial technology of this caliber, the ship was not simple.
"Father, this special little spaceship is an interstellar vessel. It is not an escape pod or anything of the sort, but a ship capable of traversing the stars—it can travel faster than light!" Russ declared.
As these words were spoken, the scene fell into dead silence. Emperor turned his head sharply, arrived instantly at Leman Russ's side, and looked down at him, asking:
"What did you say? This small ship can travel faster than light!!"
Even Emperor's voice carried a hint of excitement; this was far too great a surprise.
Faster-than-light travel technology—this was the very thing he had dreamed of.
