With a wave of her hand, she teleported the fat guildmaster away. Yet Philex still seemed somewhat displeased. After frowning for a while, she took out a list.
A row of more than a dozen names was written on it—the important figures who truly ruled the Four Northwest Towns.
On this list, several of Dragon Roar Town's actual rulers, along with the spokespeople they had appointed, had been ticked off. Rye Town's military leaders and the president of the Adventurers Guild had also received checks, but over in Gold Rush Town, not many names had been marked yet.
She picked up her pen and placed a check before the name of the president of Gold Rush Town's Mining Guild.
"Another one taken care of." Setting down the paper and pen, Philex sighed. "His Majesty insists that we act through legal means we can justify. It's really inconvenient!"
The deputy town mayor laughed. "But that way, everyone will feel more at ease, won't they?"
"Yes. People who play by the rules are always more welcome than those who don't." Philex nodded, then could not help sighing again. "It's just... such a waste of time!"
"I think your expectations are too high. It has only been a little over a year, yet you have already persuaded or brought so many people under control. At this pace, it likely will not take many more years to gain complete control of the Four Northwest Towns. Even a mortal like me can afford to wait, let alone a great mage such as yourself."
Philex smiled. "You're right. Time is the least important thing to me now. I still haven't shaken off my old habits of thought—I'm bound by a mortal's sense of time. You really are very talented. Have you considered studying magic under me?"
