This was already the 198th day of the public trial, and nearly seven hundred thousand crimes had been verified.
Of the God of Fear's more than 1.2 million crimes, the vast majority required no detailed verification at all—on such-and-such date, He had instigated or joined other evil gods in carrying out some vile scheme. Such matters were common knowledge throughout the Pantheon; there was simply no need for further investigation.
To verify even those would be tantamount to mocking everyone's intelligence.
What truly needed verification were crimes that were not widely known, or those whose circumstances were especially grave.
Gods had no need for rest, so the public trial continued without pause. Crime after crime was proven, interspersed now and then with offenses whose mere mention made all the gods understand the details, requiring no further verification. By now, more than half of the crimes had been confirmed.
As for how grave the final charges would be once all these crimes were tallied and categorized, and how cruel the punishment would be, there was scarcely any doubt left.
The God of Fear sat dejectedly in the defendant's seat, having completely abandoned all resistance. He knew that he had lost utterly and had no room left to fight back. He might as well spend his final days savoring the preciousness of life.
Yet this "savoring" was truly a torment.
Each confirmed crime gave Him a jolt, reminding Him that the little time He had left had dwindled by another sliver.
At this point, He was actually grateful that He had committed enough evil over the years. Confirming them one by one, case
