As the God of Fear's loyal subordinate—or perhaps his only loyal subordinate—Hasalin, the God of Shadows and Assassination, had been racking his brains over how to save his master.
Breaking him out of the execution ground was definitely impossible. Never mind that he was merely a middling god; even a powerful god would be useless—hadn't two powerful gods joined forces only to be beaten into a miserable rout by Void Mask alone? To storm the execution ground and save someone by himself? He would first need to transform, becoming the Lord of Order, a great god—or find a stone by the roadside that somehow turned out to be a fragment of the divine spark left behind by one of the other three great gods.
He could think about such things all he liked, but Hasalin was a practical god. What he considered was how to save the God of Fear through nonviolent means.
Honestly, this was practically an impossible task.
Hasalin himself was not some clever and wise deity, but he changed his line of thought—If I'm not clever enough, then I'll find clever people to help!
So he took an incarnation into the mortal world and sought out six officials engaged in legal work, as well as two scholars who studied history, hoping to obtain a solution from these professionals.
Because he had to conceal his identity, he did not dare use divine power recklessly. He could only tempt those people with ordinary methods such as money and treasures, even resorting to beauty—fortunately, gods could freely alter their appearances. Otherwise, with his corpse-pale complexion and malnourished figure, "beauty" would probably have the opposite effect.
After making inquiries in many places, Hasalin finally found a solution.
There were two spirits of law. One was, "Anything not permitted by law is
