This Time, It Wasn't Wrong

The mechanical creature Durden ran incredibly fast and was immensely strong. Pulling the bus carrying thirty or forty people, it sped along like a wisp of smoke. The scenery outside the windows whooshed backward, and after stopping and starting along the way, passengers getting on and off, they soon passed through a long street lined with houses on both sides and arrived at an enormous square.

Limited by the poor view from inside the bus, Combrona could not yet tell exactly how large the square was. But he at least knew that the bus stopped twice within it before reaching the first stop of their journey on the third stop: Central Square North Station.

Durden announced the name of every stop, but it always used abbreviated names. For instance, "Central Square North Station" was called "Square North." It was certainly an odd way of putting it, though not hard to understand.

Once the bus arrived, Combrona led his still bewildered-looking wife off the vehicle and onto another green platform.

Freed from the bus's limited view, Void City's Central Square was immediately laid out in full before his eyes.

"It's huge!"

Just how large was it? He was currently standing at the bus platform on the northern side of the square, and when he looked out, the square stretched all the way to where he could no longer see.

Of course, Combrona's nearsightedness was also a factor, but even so, the sheer scale of the square was enough to leave him dumbfounded.
