Palin, now Baron Palin, had been that young mage who, driven by curiosity, had followed Sui Xiong on his adventures and then died in Quick Hand Ryan's trap. After his death, Sui Xiong revived his body, and he became the later Chief Librarian of the Church of Void Mask, currently also serving as commander of the mage corps.
Over the years, Mage Palin had buried himself in researching smelting and forging techniques. Not long ago, he had developed a blast furnace capable of smelting iron ore directly into steel, thereby fostering a friendly relationship between Sui Xiong and the Dwarf Pantheon.
Palin's soul, meanwhile, had naturally gone to the Underworld after his death. After a series of experiences, he had eventually become an adjudicator of Hell.
Later still, he was promoted to Baron of Hell. During the battle to intercept the God of Fear, who had attempted to flee from Hell into the Abyss, he met Jormungandr, the Justice God. Through Jormungandr, he met Sui Xiong and Mage Palin once more.
The meeting between the two Palins was rather amusing. There was none of that melodramatic "Who am I?" farce; instead, they got along splendidly. After a lengthy conversation, Baron Palin of Hell also became a believer of Sui Xiong.
When Sui Xiong decided to wipe out the evil cult Isis this time, he naturally thought of him. As an adjudicator of Hell, Baron Palin hated evil with a vengeance. The moment Sui Xiong brought it up, he declared that he would assist Sui Xiong with all his strength, ensuring that every last scoundrel who hoped to shelter under the faith of the Orc Pantheon and evade Hell's punishment would be sent where they belonged—not a single one would be spared!
