Background / History

Tang San retains memories of a prior life connected to the Tang Sect. By his own recollection, Asura God transported his soul to Douluo Continent and placed it in Tang San's body; this past gives him knowledge of Tang Sect techniques, architecture, uniforms, and internal rules. 130 131

On Spirit Awakening Day, he awakens Blue Silver Grass with innate full spirit power. At Notting Academy, Yu Xiaogang takes a strong interest in Tang San's potential and becomes his teacher. Tang San initially respects Yu Xiaogang's theories, but Zhao Linchuan's public refutation of those theories causes him to question his teacher's competence. 1 2 3

Tang San obtains his first ring from a Mandala Snake in the Hunting Soul Forest. The aftermath leaves him traumatized by a seven-day ordeal, yet he later challenges Zhao Linchuan to defend Yu Xiaogang's honor. During the Star Dou Great Forest expedition, Tang San reaches level 30 and absorbs a two-thousand-year Human-Faced Demon Spider ring. The absorption produces the Eight Spider Lances, but Zhao Linchuan forcibly removes them while claiming to treat him, then trades him a torso spirit bone for the external bone. 45 46 47

After learning that Tang Hao is his father and that he possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as a second martial soul, Tang San seeks his father's aid. Tang Hao's silence and reports of his death force Tang San to act independently, beginning with a plan to obtain the immortal herbs at the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well. 57 58 59

Tang San is calculating and goal-oriented. When Tang Hao cannot be contacted, he quickly develops a multi-step plan to enter Heaven Dou Royal Academy, approach Dugu Yan, and gain access to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well; he assigns specific roles to Oscar, Dai Mubai, and Ma Hongjun to make the scheme appear natural. 59
