Background
Hongjun fought beside Ancestor Yin-Yang, Ancestor Five Elements, Ancestor Qiankun, and the myriad races during the Tribulation of Ferocious Beasts. Their victory over Shen Ni and the Ferocious Beast Clan earned them merit, fortune, and the reverence of the Primordial World; Hongjun became known as the Immortal Ancestor 18.
He later emerged as the final victor of the Dao-Devil War. However, Demon Ancestor Luo Hou detonated the Western Continent's earth veins before his defeat, devastating the region and leaving Hongjun with overwhelming karmic retribution. Unable to pursue the free Hunyuan Daluo Golden Immortal path, Hongjun turned to the Heavenly Dao Saint path in order to repay that karma 8.
While attempting Three Corpses Unity beneath the Jade Plate of Creation, Hongjun received a Heavenly Dao edict to recover the Twenty-Four Petal Creation Green Lotus from Tianlu. His deductions could not initially penetrate Tianlu's secrets, leading him to suspect that the Pixiu was an existence beyond the Heavenly Dao's control 8.
Personality
Hongjun is usually composed, formal, and patient. He presents himself as an impartial immortal authority, preferring persuasion, calculation, and long-term arrangements to open conflict. When Tianlu refuses to surrender the Creation Green Lotus, Hongjun abandons force after sensing that hostility toward the Pixiu would bring a catastrophic backlash 19.
He is also highly pragmatic. Hongjun repeatedly compromises with Tianlu when the Pixiu's control of fortune threatens his sermons, his collected destiny, or the wider operation of the Heavenly Dao 37 44 46.
Over time, Hongjun becomes increasingly wary of the Heavenly Dao's selfish desires. Though he initially acts on its commands and uses its power, he eventually seeks to sever their connection and prevent the Primordial World from being harmed for the Heavenly Dao's benefit 202 204 216.
Abilities & Skills
Heavenly Dao Authority
As a Heavenly Dao Saint and spokesperson, Hongjun can invoke the Heavenly Dao's laws and power on a vast scale.
- Empowered Kunpeng with effectively inexhaustible Heavenly Dao power to restrain Houtu during the Wu-Demon War 163.
- Mobilized the Primordial World's Heavenly Dao origin to shield the North Underworld from the assault of nine hundred Demon God resentments 228.
- Used the Heavenly Dao's power and three thousand laws to block a strike from Pangu's Heaven-Opening Divine Axe, though the clash forced him back 167.
- Can be punished by the Primordial World itself when his actions harm figures bearing divine offices tied to the world's foundation, as shown after Houtu was injured 168.
Deduction and Heavenly Secrets
Hongjun uses the Jade Plate of Creation to calculate karma, fortune, destiny, and hidden developments.
- Identified Tianlu as a second-generation Child of the Great Dao after his deduction touched the Great Dao aura within Tianlu's soul 19.
- Determined that Tianlu had stripped the fortune of the Primordial World's Great Luo divinities, preventing them from reaching Purple Heaven Palace 37.
- Monitors major changes to destiny and responds to disruptions that threaten the Heavenly Dao's intended course 73 79.
Three Corpses Method
Hongjun developed and refined the Method of Three Corpses, using the severing and reunification of good, evil, and self-obsession corpses as a path toward higher cultivation.
- Originally attempted Three Corpses Unity to attain sainthood 8.
- Publicly taught the perfected method during his final sermon, enabling numerous Zenith Heaven Golden Immortals to sever a corpse and enter the Quasi-Sage realm 75.
- Can manifest and dispatch his Three Corpses after attaining unity; his Good Corpse was sent to recruit Kunpeng for the Demon Race 148.
- Later sent his three corpse avatars to guide the Three Pure Ones and other prospective saints back toward the Heavenly Dao Saint path 129.
Spatial Methods
Hongjun can manipulate space with ease.
- Tore open a spatial rift to intercept Tianlu while the Pixiu fled at full speed using the Law of Space 18.
- Attempted to create a direct spatial tunnel from the Chaos to Purple Heaven Palace for the stranded divine beings, though Tianlu's interference caused the tunnel to be destroyed 37.
Equipment / Treasures
- Fragment of the Jade Plate of Creation — Hongjun's central treasure for deduction, cultivation, and wielding Heavenly Dao laws; it was also used in his Three Corpses cultivation 8 55.

- Twelve-Petal Golden Lotus of Merit — A supreme-grade Xiantian Spiritual Treasure Hongjun unsuccessfully offered Tianlu for the Creation Green Lotus 20.
- Ren Water Peach Tree — One of the ten supreme Xiantian Spiritual Roots; Hongjun surrendered it to satisfy Tianlu's demands 46.
Relationships

- Tianlu — A troublesome Child of the Great Dao whom Hongjun cannot directly harm. Their relationship begins with conflict over the Creation Green Lotus and develops into repeated bargaining, rivalry, and reluctant cooperation 19 37 202 229.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Creation Green Lotus Dispute
Under Heavenly Dao orders, Hongjun confronts Tianlu and demands the return of the Twenty-Four Petal Creation Green Lotus. After realizing Tianlu is protected by the Great Dao, he tries barter instead of force, offering treasures and even sainthood; Tianlu refuses every offer 18 19 20.
Purple Heaven Palace Sermons
After becoming a Saint, Hongjun summons the Primordial World's divine beings to Purple Heaven Palace and teaches the path of cultivation. Tianlu repeatedly disrupts his arrangements by manipulating fortune, withholding destiny, and using a dazzling Golden Wheel of Merit, forcing Hongjun into concessions 34 37 43 44.
Hongjun ultimately teaches the refined Method of Three Corpses and the Method of Three Flowers. The sermon allows many listeners to break through into the Quasi-Sage realm, reinforcing his status as Dao Ancestor 75.
Merging with the Dao
Following his three sermons, Hongjun merges with the Heavenly Dao to perfect its laws. He declares that he will not intervene unless the Primordial World's great trend or a major tribulation requires it 76 82.
Wu-Demon War
Hongjun covertly assists the Demon Race by empowering Kunpeng to restrain Houtu. When the Pangu phantom nearly destroys Di Jun, Taiyi, and the Demon Race's leadership, Hongjun personally intervenes, declaring that the Demon Race still bears Heaven's mandate 163 167.
His defense of the Demon Race leads Houtu to accuse him of hypocrisy. Hongjun withstands Pangu's Heaven-Opening Divine Axe only by fully invoking the Heavenly Dao's laws and summoning the saints to stabilize Heaven and Earth 167.
Break with the Heavenly Dao
As the Heavenly Dao develops increasingly selfish ambitions, Hongjun questions its plans to trigger tribulations for its own benefit. He agrees to a wager with Tianlu over whether a tribulation can truly strengthen the Primordial World and begins seeking a way to free himself from the Heavenly Dao entirely 202 204 216.
Ferocious Beast Campaign
When Shen Ni and the Ferocious Beast Clan re-emerge, Hongjun summons the Primordial World's leading powers to Purple Heaven Palace and organizes a united campaign. He warns that Shen Ni's absorption of Demon God resentment may create an enemy beyond their ability to defeat 220 222.
Hongjun shields the Primordial World from nine hundred Demon God resentments at the cost of exhausting his ability to resist them alone. Tianlu ultimately arrives and destroys the Demon Gods by stripping away their fortune 228 229.
