After Nan Li shows the group The Grave Robbers' Chronicles, Xie Yuchen reads it with Wu Xie and maintains that they are real despite the novel's existence in this world. 3
He later joins the group's search for information about their original world. In Beijing, the group finds no trace of the Xie Family, nor of the Huo Family, Hong Family, or Xinyue Hotel. Xie Yuchen reacts by rubbing his brow, indicating the setback weighs on him. 10
When the group prepares to investigate the possible opening of the Bronze Gate at Changbai Mountain, Blind Man identifies Xie Yuchen as one of only three members—alongside Blind Man and Zhang Qiling—capable of making the ascent without specialized cold-weather and climbing equipment. 10
