Jennifer was very happy today. Her father was back, and the family was once again supported by his shoulders. That evening, the family of four went out for a big meal, after which Jack took the children to see a movie.
Back home, Jennifer handed her acceptance letter to Jack. Jack happily praised his daughter, "Study hard. University is very important for everyone. I never went to college, and I hope that starting with you, all of you can attend prestigious universities."
"I will study hard, Dad!" Jennifer nodded, expressing her determination. She knew that Jack had been having a difficult time recently, and this success might just be a stroke of luck, especially since her father had only been a laborer in the past.
The next day, Phil Coulson and Melinda May arrived at the bank. However, there were too many customers, and the most suspicious individuals were currently the workers from that factory. Many of them were facing bankruptcy, but did they have the capability to rob a bank?
At the same time, there were quite a few workers, numbering in the hundreds. Investigating them one by one would require a significant police presence.
"Every case has its motive, and of course, more often it's a moment of impulsiveness. However, such a meticulously planned operation must have a motive," Phil Coulson said.
"I agree with that. But hundreds of people almost all have this motive. The bank's goal is to bankrupt those among them who have debts; everyone understands this, but the law cannot punish them. The workers can sue, but if they do, the issue of compensation will be indefinitely delayed. Banks use these tactics too often," George Stacy said, his expression grim. As a law enforcement officer with a sense of justice, his powerlessness felt terrible!
"Let's not discuss this issue for now. I need the police's investigation files on these people. Chief Stacy, what are these workers who are about to go bankrupt doing now?" Phil Coulson didn't want to continue discussing American legal issues, as it wasn't something they could control.
"What else can they do? They're all looking for jobs. However, many of them have been workers for over twenty years, and it's not easy to find other work now. Some have found jobs, while others are still trying. But I haven't given up on this lead; someone is always keeping an eye on them, but manpower is limited. I'll make a call now," Chief Stacy began making a phone call.
"Sorry, it will take some time. We don't have enough staff, and there are too many workers. Their residences are also spread across Brooklyn, so it will take some time," George Stacy said helplessly. He then asked, "Also, I'd like to know when your department will conduct technical inspections of the bank and the surveillance center?"
"When we deem it necessary. But honestly, if the other party truly used artificial intelligence, our technology might not be able to detect it. After all, our understanding of artificial intelligence is still in the theoretical stage. Pseudo-intelligence and true artificial intelligence are completely different; there's a fundamental distinction. I believe Mr. Tony Stark would understand this deeply," Phil Coulson said with a smile.
Chief Stacy was extremely frustrated. "Then what's the use of your support? I thought national power would be superior to Mr. Tony Stark's."
"It might not be useless. Give us the workers' information as soon as possible. We're going to see how Mr. Tony Stark is doing!" Phil Coulson held the dominant position, while Melinda May remained silent.
In the bank's main server room, Tony Stark's appearance was no longer as dapper. His hair was messy, his beard had grown considerably, and his eyes were slightly red.
After Phil Coulson entered, the three of them stood aside and watched. Chief Stacy wanted to introduce them, but Phil Coulson stopped him.
About thirty minutes later, Phil Coulson waved his hand, and the three of them walked out again. "How long has this state lasted?"
"Since Tony Stark arrived here until now, three days. But it seems very difficult to reach the technical level of the robbers."
"Understood. We'll go see the other bank employees. I need to question each of them individually. Also, I'm waiting for news from the police."
They entered the bank in the morning, and by evening, after Phil Coulson had spoken with every bank employee, George Stacy brought news. "There are basically no changes, except that three people went to the Cayman Islands a week ago. They supposedly went to do business as a last resort and only returned yesterday."
"Oh? Three people went out for business? When did they leave?"
"They left on the day of the robbery!" George Stacy also thought it was a coincidence, but considering the timing, they shouldn't have had time to commit the robbery. The road from the bank to the airport wasn't easy.
"I need detailed information on those three people!"
"Okay!"
The three returned to the police station, and the collected information was placed before Phil Coulson. The information wasn't much; the pasts of the three were relatively simple. Only Jerry had some issues; he liked street racing and often hung out with racing gangs. The other two were completely devoted family men.
"According to the files, they have strong motives, especially Jack and Roy!" Phil Coulson said.
"They certainly have motives, but they don't have the capability!"
"Chief Stacy, have you forgotten your own conclusion? There are at least four of them, with one person or a team responsible for the technical aspects," Melinda May suddenly spoke.
George Stacy had almost forgotten Melinda May. This woman was too reserved, and he hadn't expected her to speak up at this moment. "That's right, but their social circles wouldn't include such a person or organization. Besides, if there was such a person, why would they need to find three unemployed workers!"
Phil Coulson patted George Stacy on the shoulder. "People like that can be very powerful sometimes, especially for their families. For now, let's see how those three are doing. It doesn't hurt to investigate, does it?"
An hour later, the new movements of the three were presented to them. "Jack took his three children to Los Angeles, California, to send his eldest daughter to school. They're quite fast. Roy took his wife to a major hospital for treatment, and Jerry bought a new two-door Ford Mustang and went street racing."
"Well, Chief Stacy, aren't the suspicions against these three very high?" Phil Coulson asked.
"No. Look at this information. We contacted the Cayman Islands. They did indeed establish a ghost investment company and opened a financial account. I checked this account, and it contains over three million US dollars, all earned recently in the stock market." George Stacy had accomplished a lot in the past hour, including investigating the Ghost Investment Company.
