History

Raising the Devour Moon Banner

The name Devour Moon began as Monkey’s spur-of-the-moment banner name for Lin Shu’s small demon faction. Though the demons feared it might be only a temporary fiction, he affirmed that the banner would remain. 105 112

As Devour Moon Demon General, he defeated Gong Yue and caused the Qi Family’s Radiant Moon Descends into the World technique to backfire on the Demon-Slaying Division. The victory transformed the little demons’ view of their leader and strengthened their confidence in the banner. 106

His subsequent destruction of a force led by five deputy generals, more than a hundred captains, and seven Core Formation cultivators made Devour Moon a figure comparable to Demon Mountain’s leading demon generals. 117

Seizing Yong Province Pass

During the battle for Yong Province Pass, Devour Moon infiltrated the sword formation, took the Mountain God Mirror, and used it to kill Yu Qiheng. His actions saved Thunder Sound Demon General, stunned Cloud Dragon and Crimson Sash, and fundamentally shifted the battle’s outcome. 125

The Demon King’s decree awarded three great demon lords joint authority over the captured pass. Devour Moon’s exploits placed him among the foremost candidates despite his comparatively recent rise. 127

He concealed the Devour Moon name while helping the Seven Star Mountain demons under the temporary title Mountainbreaker, partly to prevent others from connecting him to the missing Mountain God Mirror. 134

Building Influence in Anren Prefecture

Devour Moon protected the demonfolk of Seven Star Mountain, eliminated the traitorous Locust Demon General, and exposed the Demon-Slaying Division’s collusion. Azure Sea Demon Lord later learned that an unnamed Demon Lord had guarded the retreating demons until they were safe. 134 135

At Wuyang County, he declared that he would guard all sixteen counties, compelling Azure Sea’s demon horde to retreat rather than provoke a wider conflict. 138

He then travelled through the mountains rescuing threatened demon strongholds and killing hostile cultivators. At Lingyun Stronghold, he defeated Golden Core cultivator Tang Qizheng and the pursuing Demon-Slaying Division, saving the surviving demons. 139 140

His identity as Devour Moon was publicly confirmed when Old Xu announced his title after he crushed a mid-stage Golden Core Immortal Scion and two Golden Core lieutenants. Azure Sea and Night Ghost subsequently accepted his authority. 151 152

Frost Cloud Prefecture

Devour Moon joined Azure Sea, Yue Xi, Shi Yi, and Jin He’s forces in resisting Yu Jingzhe’s campaign against Yong Province demonfolk. He saved Yue Xi’s horde from Loose Immortal Fang Qingbai, shattered the latter’s Heaven-Stepping Earth-Shaking divine ability, and killed him with five Dharma Treasures. 166 167

He later fought two Loose Immortals, Yang Huaixu and Liu Zhaowu, defended against an Incense and Fire Sword with the Mountain God Mirror, and killed both opponents. The surviving demons began to regard him as a possible successor to Yuan Yuan Demon King. 172 173

After attaining late Golden Core and the Lotus Lesser Three Calamities, Devour Moon chose to confront Yu Jingzhe directly rather than retreat from Frost Cloud Prefecture. 175

Rise as Demon King

In Qingyuan Treasure Land, he revealed himself as the Young Demon King and used the Lotus Lesser Three Calamities to kill Qi Hanshan, Qi Wenxuan, and Qi Yangxing of the Qi Family. 182

His return to Dragonspine Ridge brought a vast demon horde to support Qian Yiru against the Zhao Family. 188

The issuance of the Devour Moon Demon King Decree later marked his formal ascension: the crimson blood moon signified that the Young Demon King had become the Demon King of Dragonspine Ridge. 213

Appearance

In his Demon Lord guise, Devour Moon is a handsome young man whose calm, refined bearing contrasts sharply with the brutal force of his combat methods. He is often seen in ferocious black demon armor rather than his usual Cloudstream Sword Robe. 125 134 166

  • Fair, handsome face and a tall, powerfully built body. 125
  • Crimson, crystalline eyes when drawing upon the Filthy Moon Wolf Lord’s power. 71
  • Savage black demon armor, later capable of compressing into a thumb ring. 118
  • Blood-red cloak and black flame-like baleful aura during major battles. 172
  • Often appears outwardly composed and gentle despite his fearsome reputation. 134 174
