Background / History

Mu is the Five-Tails sought by Uchiha Mirai as part of his plan to revive the Ten-Tails. When confronted by Mirai's Rinnegan and Truth-Seeking Orbs, Mu recognizes a power resembling that of the Sage of Six Paths and stops resisting. Mirai asks him to be sealed within his body alongside other Tailed Beasts; Mu ultimately agrees. 185 186

Within Mirai's mental world, Mu learns about Mirai through Kurama, Isobu, and Gyūki's memories. He remains wary that Mirai might erase the Tailed Beasts' consciousnesses during the Ten-Tails' revival, but joins the others in questioning how Mirai knows ancient secrets such as the Ten-Tails and the Otsutsuki clan. 186 208

After Mirai's Six Paths transformation, Mu serves as a mount for Mirai and Konan. At Mirai's request, he reduces his size to roughly five meters tall for easier travel, and Mirai promises him a larger share of chakra when the Ten-Tails is revived. 187

When Mirai separates the nine Tailed Beasts from the revived Ten-Tails, Mu receives enough chakra for daily use and regains his freedom. He is among the four Tailed Beasts—alongside Matatabi, Gyūki, and Kurama—who choose to remain in the Leaf Village. 248
