From Gotham City's Batman, the contaminated water supply, and the microwave transmission device stolen from Wayne Enterprises... to Gotham's criminals rioting en masse and the Superpowered Guard Team descending from the sky to save Gotham's citizens.

In the past, the media had loved reporting on the elusive Batman. But this time, they had changed their tune and begun enthusiastically giving the Superpowered Guard Team positive coverage.

Why?

Nothing more than novelty, excitement, and sensationalism.

Clearly, the Superpowered Guard Team had all three.

Moreover, unlike the mysterious superheroes of the past who wore masks and preferred to fight alone, the Superpowered Guard Team was not only a superhero team made up of multiple superheroes, but every one of them appeared barefaced, fearlessly showing their true faces to the world.

The last superhero team that people remembered so vividly had been decades ago: the Howling Commandos, formed by Captain America during World War II.

But unlike the Howling Commandos, whose combat members were all ordinary people aside from Captain America, every combat member of the Superpowered Guard Team was made up of so-called Mutants.

To American citizens, Mutants were hardly an unfamiliar term. Unfortunately, because of the idiotic actions of a certain shit-stirrer and the deliberate guidance of many figures in the American upper echelons, Mutants had become synonymous with negative terms such as terror and demons in the eyes of many American citizens—and even humanity as a whole.
