Dilos flipped up abruptly and took a stride, leaping onto the nearest window.
He gripped the edge of the window with one hand, half his body protruding outside. Tilting his head, Dilos's eyes caught a glimpse of a dark figure through the night sky, clutching a pipe on the exterior wall and sliding down.
Dilos narrowed his eyes. Based on the feedback from his psychic power, the person was none other than the one who had just been monitoring him.
"Hmph..." With a cold snort, Dilos circulated the Yuan Qi within his body throughout his limbs, tensing his muscles before pushing off with a violent shove!
With a dull thud, Dilos launched himself from his spot, hurtling toward the building eight meters away. As he covered five meters, his momentum began to wane. Immediately, he exerted force through his arms, shoulders, waist, and legs in unison, performing a mid-air somersault that forcibly closed the distance to the opposite building by more than two meters.
The remaining distance of less than a meter was bridged as Dilos simply reached out and closed the gap to zero.
Dilos's left hand clamped firmly onto a protruding edge on the building's exterior, leaving him hanging securely.
Seeing the dark figure running further away, Dilos narrowed his eyes and accelerated his movements. He swung his body, locked onto another protrusion on the wall diagonally below, and once again exerted force through his arms, shoulders, waist, and legs simultaneously, releasing his grip.
The next second, Dilos used the momentum of his body to drop toward the next protrusion. During the descent, his muscles remained taut. Just before reaching the ledge, he kicked his foot against the wall to his lower right, dampening the kinetic energy of his fall.
Then, his palms easily gripped the protrusion on the wall, hanging his body once more. After repeating this two or three times, he landed on the ground with ease.
The late-night streets were devoid of pedestrians. As for the dark figure, he had landed over ten seconds ago and was already a hundred meters away.
An average person would have likely given up on the chase by now, as there was no way to catch up over such a distance without a vehicle nearby. Moreover, the surrounding streets were far too complex; if the target were determined, running into an alleyway inaccessible to cars would be enough to leave anyone stumped.
But was Dilos an average person? Clearly not, and he possessed the cheat-like ability of psychic power to lock onto the individual.
The Yuan Qi and blood energy within Dilos began to circulate wildly through his meridians. The surging power coiled around his robust physique, imbuing his entire being with explosive force.
With a fierce push off the ground, Dilos sprinted toward the dark shadow, trailing a gust of wind.
Tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-tap...
Like the gears of a machine spinning at high speed, Dilos, at full capacity, moved with such intensity that his limbs blurred into a series of afterimages. His footsteps left a continuous sound like machine-gun fire, chasing the shadow at three times the speed of a normal human!
The dark figure, currently fleeing into the distance, suddenly heard the "tap-tap-tap" sound like a machine gun and instinctively looked back.
"Oh, damn it!"
The shadow couldn't help but curse, as the distance between him and Dilos was shrinking at a visible rate. Based on his earlier estimation, they were at most sixty or seventy meters apart. And that distance was constantly closing!
"What the hell, is he a mutant?!"
The shadow cursed inwardly, then made a sharp turn and bolted into a small, narrow alleyway nearby. There were dozens of such alleys in the vicinity, all intersecting; once inside, if one darted back and forth, the advantage of the dim night lighting would make it difficult for even a mutant to track him.
Unfortunately, the shadow's luck was truly abysmal, because even if Dilos's psychic power wasn't overwhelming, it served as a perfect human-shaped search radar within this range.
Just like that, every time the shadow tried to pull an unexpected maneuver into an alley, Dilos would follow closely based on the psychic feedback. The shadow led Dilos on a winding chase, turning their pursuit into a war of attrition.
"Tsk, how the hell does this bastard keep following me?"
Watching Dilos trailing behind him at a steady, unhurried pace, the shadow couldn't help but curse while running. "And it's been twenty minutes—why can't I shake this guy off?"
Over the past twenty minutes, whenever the shadow used the cover of darkness to slip into nearly pitch-black alleys and randomly chose a path at a multi-way intersection, he found that Dilos seemed to have the nose of a hound. Wherever he ran, Dilos followed.
And it happened every single time, without a single mistake!
The shadow's mind began to fray.
Gradually, even the slow-witted shadow realized something was wrong. Given the opponent's speed, if he could track him with such pinpoint accuracy every time, he should have caught him within a minute or two, rather than dragging this out into a war of attrition.
"He's playing with me!"
Realizing the truth, the shadow couldn't help but grit his teeth at Dilos. Dilos, trailing twenty meters behind, sensed the other's emotions through his psychic perception. Honestly, Dilos didn't care how the shadow felt about being toyed with like a plaything. However, he knew the games had to end.
He casually pulled the tactical pen from his pocket, aimed at the target's knee joint, and flicked it with force! The tactical pen tore through the air, quickly catching up to the shadow and striking him square in the knee.
When the shadow heard the sound of the air being pierced, he knew something was wrong and instinctively tried to dodge to the side. It was too late.
Before the shadow could move, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his knee, his leg went limp, and he lost his balance. With a loud thud, the shadow crashed to the ground. Due to his running momentum, he tumbled several times, getting covered in dust and looking quite disheveled.
Dilos didn't show the slightest sign of relaxing. He sprinted forward, brushed his hands over the shadow's limbs, and injected An Jin into them, rendering the man unable to control his own extremities. At the same time, he grabbed the man by the collar and slammed him against the wall!
With a dull thud, the shadow let out a groan, then slowly slid down the wall as his limbs failed him.
Before he could catch his breath, he felt a powerful pressure on his throat, causing a sense of suffocation.
The shadow struggled to open his eyes and look ahead, only to see Dilos wearing a cold sneer, one hand clamped around his throat as he asked, "Who are you?! Who sent you to monitor me?!"
