Background / History

Doffy leads the Donquixote Family in the North Blue. He treats acknowledged members as family, holding himself responsible when Corazon gravely injures Gray and compensating Gray with the Spin-Spin Fruit. He states that the family must protect its “unripened seedlings,” even while accepting the law of the jungle against outsiders. 1

He was raised in privilege before a catastrophic fall from it, having once been a Celestial Dragon. This history leaves him hostile toward the Celestial Dragons and obsessed with returning to their ranks, though the Five Elders later reject his request outright. 11 65

Tsuru’s attacks on the family expose the limits of Doffy’s North Blue strength. After barely escaping her and suffering severe internal injuries, he concludes that the Donquixote Family cannot compete with New World powerhouses without becoming stronger. 24 27

To escape sustained Marine pursuit, Doffy plans and executes the theft of the North Blue Heavenly Tribute. He uses the resulting pressure and publicity surrounding a clash with Admiral Aokiji to force negotiations with the World Government, ultimately becoming a Seven Warlord of the Sea. 38 48 63 65

After entering the New World, Doffy leads the family to Dressrosa.
