Shen Le rubbed his eyes, then rubbed them again. The two figures seemed to flash into view before immediately disappearing.
He turned toward the long street, trying to find his targets, but the street was packed. Even young women dressed in period costumes appeared one after another, leaving him dizzy.
Shen Le watched for a long time. Every one of them seemed right, yet none of them did. He was about to focus and keep searching,
when someone nudged his elbow.

Shen Le smiled helplessly and lowered his head to keep eating. He had to admit that coming to the restaurant, to their flagship location,
and eating on-site really was different from eating vacuum-packed prepared meals.
At the front of the flagship restaurant, dozens of enormous clay pots stood in a row, all set over low flames to simmer slowly. Steam rose, and the fragrance drifted into the street, warmly enveloping every passerby.
As soon as a customer arrived, a pot was lifted off the fire. The sauce inside bubbled away, each tiny bubble releasing a rich fragrance as it burst.
The duck was fragrant and tender, its savory flavor rich and intense. Just looking at it made Shen Le happy. After eating two pieces, he tentatively saved a small spoonful of sauce and mixed it into his white rice.
The dark brown sauce had lost almost all the ginger's heat. Only a warming flavor remained, traveling straight down his throat into his stomach before spreading through his limbs, leaving his whole body comfortably warm.
When he looked up, everyone except their elderly advisor, who ate more slowly, was digging in with their heads down.
