Background / History

Tang San is expected to be born to Tang Hao and A Yin. A Yin proposes naming their child to commemorate the period when she, Tang Hao, and another companion traveled together; Tang Hao chooses the name “Tang San.” At this point, neither parent is believed by the Clear Sky Sect to be reincarnated 23.

In the remembered future held by numerous reincarnators, Tang San becomes a god, defeats Spirit Hall, ascends to the God Realm with the Shrek Seven Devils, and is associated with the Sea God and Asura God divine positions 17 22 36. His rise is repeatedly linked to the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well and its Immortal Herbs, which are believed to enhance both his own potential and that of the Shrek Seven Devils 8 20 21.

Before his birth, the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well is relocated to the Star Dou Forest by Gu Yuena's faction. Phoenix King regards this as a decisive blow to Tang San's future, believing the loss of its Immortal Herbs will deny Tang San elemental resistances and the resources needed for godhood 8 11 12.

Spirit Hall debates killing A Yin before she can meet Tang Hao, thereby preventing Tang San's birth; failing that, they intend to monitor Dugu Bo and seize the Immortal Herbs associated with Tang San's future growth 19.

The Clear Sky Sect takes the opposite approach, seeking to hasten Tang San's birth and rescue Tang Chen so the sect can safeguard Tang San's eventual rise to godhood 22 23.

Loss of the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well

Gu Yuena's faction claims and relocates the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well, removing the Immortal Herbs from Dugu Bo's territory. Phoenix King explicitly views the relocation as a means of crippling Tang San's future cultivation and denying the Shrek group their expected opportunities 8 11 12.

A Contested Future God

Multiple reborn factions know or believe they know the route Tang San took to godhood. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect seeks to take his opportunities for itself, while the Heaven Dou imperial family considers cultivating another Sea God candidate 20 22. Even some Clear Sky Sect elders privately believe a replacement for Tang San could be preferable due to their dissatisfaction with his remembered conduct 39.
