The sky was dim as night descended. Violent waves lashed against the hulls amidst a torrential downpour, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Over a hundred ships swayed in the turbulent sea, while the murky water was littered with the wreckage of the city and bloated, pale corpses.
Survivors who had been struggling in the water were pulled onto the cruise ships one by one. Looking at the devastation and thinking of family and friends whose fates remained unknown, they could not help but wail in agony.
As night fell, the temperature in the air plummeted. The ships were empty, devoid of any supplies, leaving everyone to huddle together for warmth.
Because there were simply too many people, the cabins were packed tight, and the decks were nearly overflowing. The rafts they had been standing on earlier now served as makeshift shelters, held over their heads by those crowded on the decks to shield them from the wind and rain.
Fortunately, the sea level rose rapidly, and as the ships moved slowly forward, every collision with a building submerged beneath the surface drew a chorus of gasps.
After the ships had traveled for nearly an hour, the water level finally began to recede. They spotted rescue workers in the distance and began waving excitedly, "We're saved! Thank God, we're finally saved!"
