Wilson Grant Fisk, nicknamed Kingpin.
The biggest crime lord in New York, the man who controlled the underworld forces of Hell's Kitchen.
Although he had not yet stepped into the light, maintaining the polished and glamorous facade of a charitable real estate mogul—complete with the Fisk Tower that was famous throughout New York—he was far from a common thug.
Given his current status and standing, it was impossible for him to be homeless or hiding in the shadows like some petty street criminal.
In fact, his daily whereabouts were an open secret throughout Hell's Kitchen.
In the northern part of Hell's Kitchen, at 311 West 50th Street in Manhattan, near the Hudson River, stood a luxury building converted from a mid-sized warehouse. This was Kingpin's daily residence and the true command center of his criminal empire.
Yet, even though more than half of the gangsters in Hell's Kitchen knew this was Kingpin's lair, no one had ever dared to launch a raid or attempt any form of retaliation against him.
The reason was simple: those who had once harbored such thoughts had long since died at the hands of Kingpin and his subordinates.
However, on this very night, an unremarkable news van quietly and slowly drove into the vicinity of the building.
As the van came to a slow stop, an inconspicuous hose-like camera extended bit by bit from an opening in the vehicle's roof.
"Damn, this is actually just the lair of a mob boss? A warehouse renovated this luxuriously, and they even have barbed wire and guard towers? What a load of crap!"
Inside the van, among the few people checking the camera feed on a tablet, Green Bull, with his green hair, muttered under his breath.
Having previously handled only corporate assassinations or overseas mercenary missions, they truly hadn't expected the gang forces in New York to have developed to such an extent.
"Shut up and check your gear."
Dun Shan, the leader of Inverted-A Squad, glared sternly at the talkative Green Bull before turning to ask Wrench, who was in the driver's seat.
"Wrench, can you launch the drone now? We need to confirm the intelligence on the enemies inside the building."
"Can do, Boss. But the target has very few windows, so I'm worried the intel might be skewed," Wrench replied with a hint of hesitation, having just activated the electronic fogging mode on the windshield and pulled his computer out from under the seat.
"It's fine. Confirm the exterior situation first, and the inside..."
Just as Dun Shan was about to continue, another voice cut in, interrupting him.
"I'll handle the enemy situation inside the building."
It was Luca, who was sitting in the passenger seat.
Before Wrench could even ask how Luca intended to handle the enemy intel, he saw Luca gently pinch the temple of his [Recon Goggles].
With a thought, the goggles instantly connected to the computer in Wrench's hands. The very next moment, a crystal-clear infrared thermal image appeared on the computer screen.
Since the computer in Wrench's hands was already connected to everyone's tablets, the feed was naturally shared with the entire squad.
"This... such a clear thermal image? How many walls did this penetrate??? When did the company release this new technology? Wait! Young Master, how did you connect directly into my computer system?"
Wrench, who had been slightly annoyed by Luca interrupting his work, was now filled with utter disbelief, his mouth firing off a barrage of questions.
In the back of the van, Shamira's face was full of pride.
It was as if she were saying, "You guys are truly ignorant; there are plenty more things the Young Master is amazing at."
Dun Shan, however, didn't notice Shamira's small gesture and simply reminded his teammates again.
"Wrench, shut up. Mission first!"
Yet, even he was secretly shocked.
One had to know that when Shamira called him the "most versatile special ops soldier" she had ever seen, it wasn't just empty talk.
Dun Shan himself possessed considerable expertise in the fields of electronic information technology and equipment.
Precisely because of this, he understood just how absurd it was to have technology that could scan through a dozen walls while still keeping the thermal imaging of all the walls and the areas behind them clearly visible.
Even the most advanced military "Multi-Mimicry Battlefield Awareness System" could only detect conditions behind 20 centimeters of wall, and that wasn't even pure thermal imaging, but rather the result of infrared thermal imaging combined with millimeter-wave radar.
In fact, the true purpose of most thermal imagers was simply to facilitate observation of enemies during night operations.
Much like the monocular eyepiece hanging on his own helmet at this very moment.
"So, has our technology at Orange Industries really reached this level?"
But this thought only flashed through Dun Shan's mind for a second; in his creed, the priority of the mission was above all else.
He immediately began to check the readiness of the others.
"Longbow, are you in position?"
"In position."
The reply in the earpiece was cold and short.
At this very moment, on the roof of an abandoned building 300 meters away from Kingpin's lair, beneath a GG sign, Longbow was using a Nikon camera tripod to stabilize his M24 SWS Sniper Rifle. He sat down on a pre-prepared folding chair, quietly watching the scene through his scope.
In truth, 300 meters was far from the limit of Longbow's sniping range, but since they were conducting squad operations in a city and needed to maintain distance from teammates, and because he had installed a custom silencer, he had chosen this building.
"It's hunting time! One shot, one kill! No one can hide! Let's play!"
While reciting various lines in his heart, Longbow's face remained as calm as a stagnant pool.
In the earpiece, Dun Shan's voice continued.
"Green Bull..."
"Don't worry, Captain!" Green Bull patted the HK416A5 assault rifle in his hands, grinning to reveal two rows of teeth.
Dun Shan, however, glared at him and cautioned, "Don't bring too many explosives; we won't need them for tonight's operation."
After saying this, he turned to look at Thresh, who was nervously gnawing on his fingernails, and shook his head helplessly.
"Thresh, you tend to be loud. Wait until we've been exposed before you make your move, along with this..."
Dun Shan hesitated for a moment, then looked at the towering robot beside him, which was clad in armor and trying its best to curl its body smaller to avoid bumping into anyone.
"Hello, I am Agent Baymax!" (▇━▇)
"...Right... this Agent Baymax, you and he will follow behind us for now."
Finally, Dun Shan pulled the charging handle of his M4A1 carbine and looked at Shamira, who was using the same weapon as him, saying softly, "Wolf Spider, we'll take the lead. Coordinate with Longbow to take out the guards in the watchtower first."
Hearing Dun Shan call out her codename, a bloodthirsty smile appeared on Shamira's face.
"Understood, Captain!"
