Lu Chen's emergence as a powerful support-type Spirit Master threatens both Ning's personal title and the standing of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, leading Ning Fengzhi to pursue his elimination. 24 27 40 54

Story Role / Major Arcs

Attempted Recruitment of Lan Chen

Ning Fengzhi accompanies Xue Qinghe to the Dugu Mansion to meet Lu Chen, then living under the identity of Lan Chen. Publicly, he seeks to resolve a supposed misunderstanding and recruit Lan Chen; privately, he brings Gu Rong to assess the disguised Spirit Master's identity and potential threat. 22

After Gu Rong threatens Lu Chen and Dugu Bo intervenes, Ning Fengzhi defuses the immediate confrontation with an apology and a monetary gesture of goodwill. Lu Chen nevertheless recognizes that Ning Fengzhi regards him as a future threat. 23

Pursuit and Conflict with Dugu Bo

After Lu Chen and Dugu Bo disappear, Ning Fengzhi mobilizes the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's resources to locate and eliminate Lu Chen, Dugu Bo, and Dugu Yan. 27

Ning Fengzhi later personally intercepts the group with Chen Xin and Gu Rong. He attempts to take Lu Chen to the sect under the pretext of discussing support-type martial souls, but Dugu Bo refuses, beginning an open confrontation. 36

Ning Fengzhi supports Chen Xin with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda and Seven Treasure True Body during the battle. Despite these amplifications, Dugu Bo defeats and severely injures Chen Xin. 37 38 40

Sect Crisis and Apology

Dugu Bo retaliates through poison attacks against the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, killing more than 300 soul masters and incapacitating over 500 within ten days. 41

Faced with mounting losses, Ning Fengzhi abandons Gu Rong's call for further violence and seeks reconciliation. He apologizes to Dugu Bo, requests an antidote for the sect's victims, and provides compensation, including a spirit bone. 41 42 43

Although many poisoned disciples survive, many retain permanent damage to their talent and future potential. The incident damages the sect's prestige and leaves Ning Fengzhi unable to retaliate openly. 43

Final Battle and Death

After rebuilding much of the sect's manpower, Ning Fengzhi again faces Lu Chen when Lu Chen arrives at the sect to settle the earlier ambush. 90

Ning Fengzhi immediately activates his martial soul and Seven Treasure Avatar, fully supporting Chen Xin and Gu Rong. He orders them to kill Lu Chen before Lu Chen can develop his twin martial souls further. 91

Lu Chen bypasses Chen Xin to target the vulnerable support master first, removing Ning Fengzhi from the battle and collapsing the support advantage of Chen Xin and Gu Rong. 92 Ning Fengzhi is ultimately killed by Lu Chen, after which the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect is dismantled and its mountain gate is taken over by the Longevity Sect. 94 95
