Background / History

Yuehua Ai is the reincarnation of Lu Beichen, a brilliant scientist whose work focused on medicine and biology. Lu Beichen pursued medical breakthroughs in response to his terminal illnesses, but ultimately died before his consciousness awakened in Ai's infant body. 1

Ai was born amid war in the Land of Rivers. An old man found and raised him through three years of flight and hardship, during which Ai learned the local language and came to understand that ninjas and war had destroyed his home and killed his parents. After the old man's death, Ai buried him alone and continued following refugees because survival was his only option. The old man had given him the name “Yuehua Ai,” with “Ai” representing his belief that love could bring peace. 2 12

At four years old, Ai was found by Konan and brought into the group she shared with Yahiko and Nagato. His survival knowledge—especially fishing, planning, and observation—helped improve the group's living conditions. Though he initially regarded Nagato's Rinnegan chiefly as a means of securing his own future, Konan, Yahiko, and Nagato's willingness to protect one another gradually changed his detached outlook. 2 4 11 13

Ai joined the group in searching for the Legendary Sannin and became Jiraiya's student. Under Jiraiya's training, he refined his chakra, learned ninjutsu, and developed his own techniques.
