Background

Born during the Warring States period, Nobuhiko witnessed the last Senju–Uchiha conflict, Konoha's founding, and Madara's departure. Having watched the Uchiha endure suspicion and decline, he spent his life hoping to see the clan revived. His standing within the clan was exceptional, and he remained attentive to its younger talents even while on his deathbed. 18

Fugaku brought Sasuke and Izumi to see Nobuhiko near the end of his life after revealing that his Mangekyo Sharingan could no longer clearly perceive futures involving Sasuke. Nobuhiko was intrigued by Sasuke's effect on the future and agreed to continue serving the clan after death when Sasuke proposed preserving his soul. 18

Sasuke demonstrated the Rasengan and disclosed his possession of the Yin half of the Nine-Tails, convincing Nobuhiko that Sasuke was extraordinary. Before dying, Nobuhiko ordered the clan's elders to obey Fugaku on major decisions and warned that his will would endure after death. He also left his preserved Mangekyo Sharingan eyes to Sasuke. 19

After his death, Nobuhiko's soul was successfully contained in the Soul Space. There, he willingly granted all of his abilities to Sasuke without losing them himself, then undertook Izumi's training. 19 20

Nobuhiko is direct, pragmatic, and deeply invested in the Uchiha clan's survival. Even in his final moments, he used his authority to demand unity behind Fugaku and threatened dissenting elders with consequences after his death. 19

He is cautious about secrets and immediately questioned whether Sasuke's Soul Space could be exposed through mental interrogation. At the same time, his devotion to the clan made him readily entrust Sasuke with his abilities once he understood that they could help secure an Uchiha revival. 20

Despite his sternness, Nobuhiko is a dedicated teacher. He sets demanding standards for Izumi, praises sound tactics, and accepts defeat in sparring without resentment. 21 32
