Background

Obito is an Uchiha who receives little attention from his clan and is described as being ostracized by many of its members. He nevertheless takes great pride in the Uchiha name and places enormous faith in his future Sharingan awakening. 30 39

As a member of Team Minato, he serves alongside Hatake Kakashi and Nohara Rin under Namikaze Minato. Before Chisato's intervention, Obito's rivalry with Kakashi, crush on Rin, and desire for recognition repeatedly override his judgment in the field. 22 25 28

Personality

Obito is loud, impulsive, and easily provoked. He immediately clashes with Chisato, lashes out at Kakashi over minor insults, and repeatedly boasts that he will surpass stronger opponents once he awakens the Sharingan. 22 23 30

His recklessness is closely tied to insecurity. During the Sand Ninja encounter, he pursues enemies to prove himself and impress Rin, only to freeze under a Jonin's killing intent and place Rin in danger. 28 30

Despite his immaturity, Obito is stubbornly determined and deeply protective of his teammates. After being forced to confront his failure, he accepts that he endangered Rin and commits himself to becoming stronger. Arrival of Team Minato's “Junior Uncle”

Obito first encounters Chisato when the latter joins Team Minato under Orochimaru's authority. He refuses to accept that Orochimaru would choose Chisato as a disciple, insults him, and attacks after being provoked. Chisato immediately subdues him and warns him that battlefield carelessness is fatal. 22 23

Sand Ninja Test

When Team Minato is assigned to eliminate a Sand Ninja squad, Obito resists Chisato's guidance but wants to prove himself. During the ensuing battle, he ignores Kakashi's warning and pursues retreating enemies, only to be wounded and saved when Rin shields him from a Jonin's attack. 25 27 28

Confronting Recklessness

After the mission, Chisato interrogates Obito about his conduct. By comparing him with Rin—who acted despite danger to save a comrade—Chisato distinguishes courage from recklessness and forces Obito to admit that his actions endangered her. 30
