Background / History

The clan regards itself as one of Konoha's founding families and maintains that its ancestors created the village through their blood and lives. At its height, it possessed one-third of Konoha's land and shops as well as the village's largest ninja force. 15

Its decline began after Senju Tobirama ordered the clan's integration into Konoha, causing nearly half of its strength to be absorbed into the village. The clan then suffered further losses while aiding the Uzumaki Clan during the destruction of the Land of Whirlpools, despite Konoha's mutual-defense agreement with the Uzumaki. 5

Under Konoha's administration, many Senju shinobi were assigned dangerous frontline work, demoted, or deprived of advancement and credit. Senju Zuoren, for example, had been a jonin before being reduced to a genin under the name Takagi. 12 14

Senju Nawaki's attempted assassination became the catalyst for the clan's revival. With Senju Tojian's support and the reappearance of Wood Release, Nawaki gathered the hardliners, exposed Senju Sakuragi's betrayal, and formally abolished Tobirama's integration order. 5 15 19 20

After Nawaki's attempted assassination and the gathering of oppressed Senju shinobi in the Land of Rain, the clan rejected Konoha's authority. Establishment in the City of Wood

The clan relocated to its fallback territory and rebuilt its political position while facing Konoha's trade sanctions, bounty missions, and scrutiny from other villages. Its remaining jonin gathered under Nawaki, Tojian, and Zuoren to prepare for external threats. 17 18

Conflict over the Land of Fields

Seeking to recover its former agricultural interests, the clan entered conflict with the Sarutobi-aligned Land of Fields.
