Background / History

Sarutobi Hiruzen became the Third Hokage at age twenty-five after Senju Tobirama’s death in Konoha’s seventeenth year. His succession was later publicly challenged by Senju Nawaki, who alleged that Hiruzen and Tobirama’s other guards had failed their duty during the Kumogakure negotiations. 31 33
