"Cursed?!"
Lemei suddenly raised her voice, looking utterly incredulous.
"How could Garken have been cursed..."
"I don't know." Gilan shook his head.
Garken usually lived with them in the cabin. Other than doing odd jobs and studying, he had hardly any contact with outsiders...
No, that wasn't right.
Gilan suddenly recalled that a few days ago, Garken had gone to Andeya, supposedly to buy some supplies.
Perhaps something had happened that day, causing him to fall victim to a curse.
Snap.
Gilan raised his hand and snapped his fingers beside Garken's ear. The latter had been in a dazed state, but the abrupt sharp sound instantly brought him back to his senses.
"I... What happened to me?!"
The young man noticed that his collar had been stained by black water, and there was a foul, fishy taste in his mouth. His expression changed drastically.
Lemei frowned and explained what had happened.
Garken was immediately frightened out of his wits.
"A... a curse?!"
His eyes widened, his face filled with terror.
Gilan reassured him:
"Don't worry. The Magnetic Cleansing Ritual just now has already removed the curse from you."
"Thank you, Brother Gilan."
Garken thanked him with considerable gratitude.
"If you hadn't suggested testing the effects of the 'Magnetic Cleansing Water,' I probably wouldn't even have known about this... If it had dragged on any longer, I might really have been harmed by the curse."
"No need to thank me." Gilan said calmly. "But do you remember who else you came into contact with besides us?"
"Well..." Garken looked thoughtful before saying hesitantly, "I don't think I met anyone. I only bought some supplies from a general store in Andeya."
"Is that so?" Gilan nodded. "Then be more careful for the next while. Try not to go to Andeya alone again.
