Lemei relayed the message brought by the maidservant to her teacher, Maikala Meilasi Kesi, word for word.
After hearing it, the lady's reaction was unusually calm.
She merely smiled and nodded at Lemei to show that she understood, then gently instructed:
"Miss Lemei, please go downstairs and call Mr. Gilan up. I have a few things to tell him."
"Mm... yes, Teacher."
Though the noble girl was momentarily stunned, she quickly came to her senses. She lifted her skirt in a curtsy to her teacher, then turned and headed downstairs.
She went straight to the door of the wooden cabin on the left.
Yet before she could raise her hand to knock, the wooden door creaked open from within.
The blond young man stood behind it, quietly watching her.
"Mr. Gilan, Teacher asked for you..."
"Mm, I know." Gilan nodded, walked past the noble girl, and headed toward the main house. "Thank you for letting me know."
Lemei watched his retreating back and curled her lips.
Gilan went up to the attic of the main house.
He walked to Maikala's desk and lowered his head in a bow.
"Madam, you sent for me?"
"Mm." Madam Maikala nodded. Without beating around the bush, she said directly, "You heard Lemei's news as well, didn't you?"
"Yes, Madam." Gilan confirmed it. "The maidservant from Count Nicola's household came by earlier. I overheard their conversation."
Madam Maikala fell silent for a few seconds, then suddenly sighed.
"I foresaw danger approaching."
"Danger?" Gilan raised his head, narrowing his eyes.
Madam Maikala gave a soft hum and explained:
"The path I walk is the Furnace Chalice Spiral, the Godless Path of January... I independently explored the sixth-rank essence, which I named 'Prophet.'"
"With the power of that essence, I can sense danger in advance."
Gilan froze.
