Baron Opal truly deserved his status as a veteran member of Midnight Rose—a mysterious merchant who commanded his own sphere of influence.
Thanks to his extensive network and channels, he handled matters with remarkable efficiency.
That very evening, just as night fell, Gilan received another call from him.
The list of materials Gilan had given him contained twenty-two items, and every single one had been procured without exception.
"Mr. Blood Owl, the quantities of these materials you asked me to acquire are no small matter. Four or five of them are rather rare and scarce—I had to go to quite some trouble to get them from a few friends..."
Baron Opal said over the phone.
"Still, I'm glad I didn't let you down, haha."
"Thanks, Baron Opal. I owe you one."
Gilan held the receiver close to his ear.
"How much did all these materials cost?"
"Hmm... it wasn't cheap. The total came to 8,078 Caesar. Some of it came from my own material stores, so I'll give you the base price. Let's round it down—8,000 Caesar in total. How does that sound?"
Baron Opal said.
Gilan was taken aback when he heard that.
8,000 Caesar...
That expensive?!
He had been somewhat prepared, but he had not expected the materials to cost even more than anticipated.
But considering the value of the Philosopher's Stone, the cost of these materials suddenly did not seem so significant.
"Fine." Gilan spoke into the receiver. "Deduct the 3,800 Caesar from the dividends, and I'll pay you the remaining 4,200 Caesar in cash."
"Let's use the hotline's alchemy array for a remote transaction."
"Of course, Mr. Blood Owl."
Baron Opal readily agreed.
Gilan picked up the metal receiver and placed it upside down on the workbench. Golden light flashed, and an intricate alchemy array emerged.
