Yin Spirit Temple and Lake Heart Island

Dong Tianze was the foster son of Dong Qianfeng and was known as the Dong Family's “sharpest blade for murder.” By the time he reached Wulan Lake, he had developed the predatory temperament of a hunter, massacring the Su and He family attendants while seeking the Pit Well's treasures. 49 50

He fought Zhou Qingchen and pursued Pang Jian into the Pit Well, where Pang Jian ambushed and grievously wounded him with the Dragon-Patterned Spear. Dong Tianze escaped through Phoenix Transformation, but his injuries forced him to rely on Black Tortoise Essence Blood and the self-combustion of Spirit Sha to survive. 53 56

During this period, he survived the trial of Phoenix Marrow. The marrow formed a Phoenix Mark within his soul, making him a Heavenly Phoenix Divine Guard bound to a remote and powerful master. The Mark initially twisted his loyalty and sense of purpose, convincing him that his life existed to serve and protect that master. 56

Rivalry with Pang Jian

Dong Tianze repeatedly clashed with Pang Jian after Lake Heart Island. He was severely wounded again in Bagua City and later blamed Pang Jian for leaving him with an infamous reputation after an impostor used Dong Tianze's appearance to rob Rogue Cultivators. 131 150

His hostility gradually changed after Pang Jian aided him during a failed attempt to hunt a middle-stage Dongxuan Realm Divine Guard. Pang Jian sent healing pills through the Ghost Altar and lent him Black Iron Mountain, enabling Dong Tianze to defeat his pursuer and obtain another Phoenix Mark. 236 241

Though Dong Tianze remained proud and suspicious of Pang Jian, he began treating Pang Jian's associates as people worth protecting. When Pang Jian asked him to watch over Gao Yuan and Han Ting, Dong Tianze assaulted those holding them captive and secured their release. 362

Blood God Great Method

After Yin Spirit Temple declined and the Ghost Sacrifice Sect pursued him, Dong Tianze encountered the Blood God Great Method in Hongdu Shattered Land. He embraced the art despite recognizing its dangers, later using it to break through to the Jiemie Realm amid the ruins of the Blood Spirit Sect. 508 519 524

The method intensified his bloodlust and pushed him toward isolation. Believing that his worsening condition endangered Pang Jian, Dong Tianze urged him to leave Hongdu Shattered Land and used Blood Escape to separate from him. 519

Dong Tianze absorbed an immense supply of essence blood from a stolen repository in the Second Realm, becoming a True God. The Bloodthirst Sword later noted that Dong Tianze had grown strong enough to destroy even its sword soul if it defied him. 683

Dong Tianze's body became a battleground for the influences of Luo Shen and the Black Phoenix. His blood vault contained bloodlines and marks associated with ancient Demon Gods, Fifth Realm alien races, and both rulers. 813 817

He ultimately confronted Ling Yun, the ancient God of Life, despite knowing the vast difference in their strength. Ling Yun stripped away Dong Tianze's cultivation and killed him, but Pang Lin restored him with Ling Yun's life essence and stated that he had returned stronger than before. 916 923
